  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: I recommend that we have a more lean management in terms of delivering the Bill that we are discussing. Let us not create a body that is going to be another hole for sinking money from the national Budget. I would like to see more harmonised functions between the council and the committee that will implement this Bill. view
  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: When we talk about a transport Bill, there is a component of the environment that must be thought about. I have not seen the department of environment coming out clearly either at the council level or at the management section of the Bill. Those are a few of my comments. view
  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: I have no problem with this Bill being first introduced in Nairobi. After acquiring experience on how to deliver services in an integrated form, we can amend the law to cover other cities that are already experiencing congestion. view
  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: With those few remark, I support the Bill. view
  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this Special Motion. I promise to be very brief so that I can give other Members time to contribute. This is a very important Motion for this nation and it is also a very important Motion for everyone to express their sentiments. I appreciate that a lot has been said about the list that has been presented to us this afternoon. The diversity represented by the nominees is quite clear. It is diverse geographically, culturally, age-wise and academic-wise. I want to single out the last person in the ... view
  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: The men and women, whose names have been brought to us this afternoon are going to give a great input to the President’s development of the four pillars. I believe that they will do a lot of work. We expect them to work closely with us and to support us wherever we call upon them to do so. That is an area that has already been mentioned. We will approve their names, but it may not be easy for them to recognise that we need to work with them and get their support. I take this opportunity to also thank ... view
  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much. view
  • 6 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I second this Motion that has been moved by one of our independent Members. He has clearly put the matter to this House in a very humble manner on the need to increase forest coverage in our nation of Kenya. Globally, each nation should have 10 per cent of its landscape covered by forest. Currently, Kenya has about three per cent of its landscape under forest cover because of the challenges we have had over the years. Now that we do not have space to increase tree planting in forests, we are left with ... view
  • 6 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The Motion has come at a good time when the global community is meeting at Gigiri to discuss how to deal with environmental issues. It beats logic for us to engage in this discussion and give directions on how best to involve our institutions and individual households in tree planting. • 6 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: Finally, in promoting tree planting programmes at institutional and household levels, we will help the dreams of some of our heroes and heroines in this country, including Prof. Wangari Maathai. In one of her speeches, she said that if we destroy nature, then nature will destroy us. In her lecture in Oslo sometime back, she noted the significant role the youth can play in the environment, which cannot be questioned. She said: “To the young people, I say, you are a gift to your communities and indeed, the world. You are our hope and our future.” We want our children, ... view
