  • 3 Dec 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I rise to support the hon. Member from Taita Taveta. As the Chair is aware, almost 85 per cent in Taita Taveta is actually under wildlife conservation and national parks. Most of the livelihoods have been destroyed especially when they have famine. Sometimes schools are destroyed by elephants. What the hon. Member from Taita Taveta has said is true that national parks and games reserves are not assisting the community. view
  • 21 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I rise to support the Bill. This is a very excellent Bill but it has some grey areas. This country is actually endowed with a lot of beautiful fauna and flora that has not been conserved for many years and it has been abused badly. I think this Bill will now curtail misuse in abuse of our resources and the fauna and flora of this country. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, the Chair of the Committee is not there now but we need to inculcate love of wildlife in children, ... view
  • 21 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: must also take care of the sanctity of human life. If somebody kills an elephant he or she is fined Kshs20 million or life imprisonment. • 21 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Finally, there is a long list of animals, fish, trees and plants that have scientific names and most people do not understand them. If it is possible, they should be labeled in the local languages so that people can know the animals they have in their areas. view

  • 30 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to contribute and support this timely Motion. The amount of Kshs1,020.00 across the board is not fair because this country is just too large and the cost of goods and services is not the same countrywide. The cost of goods and services in my constituency and in Turkana is different. Therefore, the amount of Kshs1,020.00 across the board is actually not fair and the amount should be increased as suggested by the Mover of the Motion. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, while I thank the previous Government for ... view
