  • 1 Mar 2023 in Senate: When you say that the National Treasury should raise over Kshs120 billion, it means you will tax Kenyans more. We cannot afford electricity bills. This country needs to develop and industrialize. The tariffs in electricity cannot sustain our industries. Most of the industries are relocating to other countries. However, we brag around and say that we are a middle-level developed country and our economy is growing by at least 6 per cent while children and people are dying of hunger. view
  • 1 Mar 2023 in Senate: Animals are dying. We have lost almost three or four billion livestock. In monetary terms, they are worth Kshs600 billion that we are now asking to borrow. We can take care of the animals. Our farmers cannot produce adequately because taxation is high. Also, electricity tariffs are high. I do not know where we are headed. It is time for leaders in this country view

  • 1 Mar 2023 in Senate: to say the truth and indicate that we cannot sustain ourselves. We cannot feed our people or produce. It is a shame that we are an independent country that cannot feed her own people. We cannot brag of anything else. We need to go back to the drawing board and say that enough is enough. Thank you. I support the Motion. view
  • 1 Mar 2023 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I rise to support the Statement. As you are aware, today, clan conflicts and armed groups are causing mayhem in this country. For instance, in Rift Valley, especially in Marakwet, Pokot and Turkana. The same thing is happening in Marsabit County and the northern parts of Kenya. We are actually overwhelmed because those same people have many problems. Today they are facing drought, lost their livelihoods and they are still being killed by people who are crossing from different borders. They come from Ethiopia, Somalia and elsewhere. Unfortunately, this country has become free for all. We have ... view

  • 1 Mar 2023 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, it is high time that we took action as a country. We should not be allowing every Tom, Dick and Harry in this country. We must be able to know who is who in this country. We must be able to control the flow of arms in this country. We know that we have porous borders, but whatever it is, we have enough resources, and men and women who can handle these people. Unfortunately, we have a lot of laxity within our forces and systems. Small arms are readily available. Some of them have found their way ... view
  • 30 Dec 2022 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this is a House of records. I want to put the record straight on what Sen. Wambua has said, that the Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations has delayed in intervening in these issues. We did not delay. We moved fast and consulted the local leaders, including our Deputy Speaker, so that this issue could be solved. We were advised that the matter was being handled by local leaders and that they would inform us later. Before they completed their consultation, the matter went to court. So, we could not intervene on a matter that was in ... view

  • 20 Dec 2022 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I am confident that every Senator in this House is competent enough. We have argued the whole day about competency. I have no problem with the Committee. However, the paragraph before the names states that ‘The Senate has resolved.’ This Senate is still debating. We have never resolved it. In future, you have to correct that sentence. Secondly, this matter falls under the Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations yet the Chairman is not included. Every Standing Committee of this Senate has been given responsibilities. However, the Chairman of the view
