  • 11 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I want to thank the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources. Indeed, they came to Meru County. The Petitioners together with the residents of Meru County made a complaint and it was well captured. Unfortunately, only two constituencies have contributed their Constituencies Development Fund (CDF) money to construct an electric fence. My colleague from my neighbouring constituency has not contributed. I want the recommendation of the Committee to be taken up by the Department Committee of Environment and Natural Resources because there are so many pending Bills of compensation dating back many ... view
  • 11 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: we get some relief food to give to our people. This is because it has come to a situation where my people do not have food because all the food crops which they had planted like maize, watermelons and everything has been eaten and destroyed by wildlife. I want the Chairperson of that Departmental Committee on Environmental and Natural Resources to speak to any ministry which would probably give us food so that, at least, we can give it to our people. It should be possible to be implemented as soon as possible. Thank you, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 10 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I wish to support this Petition as well. view
  • 10 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I wish to support this Petition by Hon. Shinali. It is not only western Kenya which does not have airstrips. Even some parts of eastern Kenya do not have airstrips. We have many private airstrips, like in Nanyuki and other places. I want to join my colleague from South Imenti in saying that when the CS in charge of the Ministry comes to Parliament to respond to the Petition, I want to be there because we need an airstrip in Meru County. We also need the airstrip which is in Isiolo to start working because it ... view
  • 10 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I support the Bill by Hon. Neto. I believe the amendment he is seeking is right because the Bill was signed by the President over three years ago in March, 2013. It should have been in operation because I believe Public Benefits Organisations (PBOs) do a lot for this country. They play a very critical role. view
  • 10 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: There are some rogue public NGOs which were covered in the media about a month or two back. There is an NGO which operates, I think in Kibera. Apparently, most of what they get is given out as salary for a gentleman and his wife, both of who work for the NGO. Nothing trickles down to those it is meant for. view
  • 10 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: I believe that once this Bill is put in place, those kinds of people will be checked. Non- Governmental Organizations have done extremely well in all parts of the country. view
  • 10 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Makau is talking a bit louder than I would wish him to. NGOs in this country have done a lot especially in the pastoralist and rural areas like in Meru. They are in charge of many water and school projects. With this Bill in place, we will have a framework where everybody can know what exactly NGOs do because many are duplicating the works which have already been done. If we have the Bill in place, we can have a better framework for things to be done. I support the Bill. view
  • 3 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I appreciate that you have noticed me. I want to congratulate Hon. Wamalwa and agree with the amendments that have been brought by the Chair. Regarding ranking of schools, we had gone wrong a little bit somewhere. Ranking should not be done to glorify people who cheat in exams. I believe what the CS is doing with regard to examinations is the best way to go and I support him fully. At least, now we will get the right ranks and not the lopsided ranking, where the rich, who can afford to buy exams, ... view
  • 3 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. First of all, let me congratulate you for being chosen into the Speaker’s Panel. I can see the fruits of you being chosen are very good. view
