Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I wish to support this Motion by hon. Njenga and in doing so I think it is a very good Motion which goes to the core of the youth. I think the hon. Member would probably even make an amendment not just on village polytechnics. He should even add middle level colleges and all colleges because I think we need to train our youth. We need to take them off the streets so that they do not become hawkers or other people who have been chased away by governors and the county representatives like ...

Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Seconder of the Motion talked about the chairs in Parliament which were made by artisans in Kenya, namely, the Prisons Department. We would not want our youth to go to prison to learn carpentry. They would rather go to middle level colleges and polytechnics to learn those skills. We need to incalculate life skills into the youth. The previous speaker has talked about mechanics and we should have a programme where we can teach our youth life skills. Girls should be taught knitting and stitching and when they are done with that, they should ...

Thank you, hon. Speaker. I wish to support this Motion as amended. It is something that should be done very soon. I would like to talk a bit on the cotton industry which has been failing. Mahatma Gandhi advocated for use of cotton in India. He banned the importation of cotton from Britain. We need to be more patriotic by building our industries rather than exporting jobs. We need to think about EPZ. People get tax holidays and there is the AGOA initiative. People come in as investors, but as soon as the tax holidays are removed, they run away ...

We are looking forward to these people being in office so that we can work with them. I also thank all the Departmental Committees for doing a very good job. It is just a formality and we should approve all the nominees together at once.

Thank you, hon. Speaker, Sir. My name is Abdul Rahim Dawood, the Member for Imenti North. I want to support this Motion, but with a caution as well. We need to check all the money which goes to the county governors. We have to be very careful on how the governors will use the money. They may get the money and think that they are on top of the world. They need to consult the members of the county assembly and not just inform them. They may be using that money where it is not needed, for example, doing big ...
