  • 18 Sep 2024 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, we need to get a commitment from the Chairman. He has talked about Tuesday which I totally disagree with. It is very far. We want the Chairman to bring a statement this afternoon. He is capable of doing that. We need to empathise that an elected leader is missing. It is not a laughing matter. You can bring an answer. I am persuaded by the statement that has been made by the Deputy Leader of the Majority Party. We will do that. As we do so, my friend, Hon. Gabriel Tongoyo, the Chairman of the Departmental Committee ... view

  • 18 Sep 2024 in National Assembly: I hope nobody is tampering with the ICT system here. All evidence points that Hon. Yussuf is being held by our security agencies. Can you assure this House that we will find Hon. Yussuf alive as you bring that statement? view
  • 15 Aug 2024 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Speaker, allow me to congratulate the ranking Member, Hon. Millie. She has also been the Chair of Parliamentarians for Global Action. I appreciate Hon. Millie as a very pragmatic, astute and quintessential debater, and leader. The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has just realised this, belatedly though. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 15 Aug 2024 in National Assembly: That being the case, Standing Order 106 as read with Standing Order 19A clearly refers to relevance. Secondly, the issue of the Minority and the Majority is clearly spelled out under the Standing Orders. Will I be right to say that we are debating something that ought to have been discussed outside this House? Thirdly, Hon. Naomi Waqo clearly said she was not given an opportunity. We are debating what she said; the issue of a broad-based government is a rumour in this House. It can only be attributed to outsiders. As parliamentarians, the structure remains the Majority and the ... view
  • 14 Aug 2024 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Kenya is a melting point of many nation-states. All of us must remember our forefathers who brought us together from different regions to make a claim on this beautiful premier nation called Kenya. These two great ladies, one coming from the nation-state of Turkana and the other from the nation-state of Luo, will add great value to the governance platform of the Republic of Kenya. We also need to thank the President for thinking out of the box, being a statesman, and bringing Kenyans together when everybody expected things to go haywire. Hon. Speaker, we also ... view
  • 14 Aug 2024 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker. The paradox in our country is that we have reached a stage where leaders who are entrusted with the leadership of this country, have reduced their role to just lamentations. I have looked at this Motion, which is good for a member of parliament who is seeking to be a populist. However, practically speaking, this is not the route. I appreciate what Hon. Nabulindo has done but, the era of bringing Motions along just to lament on the Floor of the House is gone. It does not add any value. What the sugarcane farmers require ... view
  • 14 Aug 2024 in National Assembly: that countries that have promising sugar farmers do not reach the level of reducing their sugar imports. view
  • 14 Aug 2024 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Speaker, therefore, we should not ask for somebody from western Kenya to be the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development. Since Independence, there have been many senior individuals from western region who have been cabinet secretaries for Agriculture and Livestock Development. It has, however, not added any value but individual gain. view
  • 14 Aug 2024 in National Assembly: My contribution on this particular sector is for us to find a solution. First of all, let us pass that Bill. I know there is a bit of jurisdiction conflict between the Senate and the National Assembly. However, when an issue touches on the lives of Kenyans, politics should be put aside. We do not have any jurisdiction conflict with the Senate. Our work is to legislate. If anything, we should be complementing each other. We need to pass the Bill as a matter of urgency. If there are administrative issues between the two Houses, it should be sorted out ... view
