  • 23 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, I beg to move: THAT the Bill be amended in Clause 277 by inserting the following words at the end of sub-clause (1)- “commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction by a civil court to a fine not exceeding five hundred thousand shillings or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year.” This is meant to provide a specific punishment. As it is now, there is a bit of ambiguity in the way it is drafted in the Bill. So, we are just being specific. view
