18 Feb 2025 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I join my colleagues in commending the President for the manner in which he approached the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson election this year. I also appreciate the amazingly gingerly manner in which Hon. Raila Odinga exhibited himself after the loss. The Odingas have always been magnanimous and patriotic. Let me remind Kenyans that in 1962, when the white colonialists declared Mzee Jomo Kenyatta the leader of death and darkness, it is the Odingas who said that there would be no internal self-rule without Kenyatta. In 1992, when Mzee Moi had a problem immediately after ...

of Kenyans do not believe in tribal bigots. We cannot live by an ideology that has been overtaken by events. I request His Excellency the President to work with Hon. Raila Odinga in determining and working out the 2027 and 2032 elections, and even into the future, so that at one time, the Odingas can also get an opportunity in the history of this country. However, there are certain things that we need to go back and determine. We need to recalibrate our foreign policy and fill the pitfalls. We have literally assisted many African countries in many ways. In ...

13 Feb 2025 in National Assembly:
Hon. Deputy Speaker, Audit Committees play a very important role in safeguarding the public interest. I request that the House Business Committee fast-track all the pending reports of the Audit Committees because that is the only way to assess whether the public gets value for money. These should not be treated like any other reports because the Office of the Auditor-General audits these entities. Parliament is supposed to act as a neutral arbiter. It should provide an avenue for the audited agencies and the Auditor- General to explain the same so that the public can also understand this. I am ...

11 Feb 2025 in National Assembly:
Hon. Speaker, unless this question is determined, pursuant to Standard Order 171, we are looking at a crisis, which can only be sorted out with the proper guidance from the Speaker. This state of affairs portends a crisis for the House. We want your guidance, pursuant to Standing Order 171, on who are the majority and minority parties. Once that is determined, all other things will flow.

16 Jan 2025 in National Assembly:
Thank you for giving me an opportunity to contribute to this very important Report. Diplomacy is, by definition, the art, science, and other means states use to interact with other nations to safeguard their national interests. That being the case, modern-day diplomacy was born out of the Vienna Convention of 1961. The convention also provided the basis for diplomatic engagement to promote, project and protect the interests of countries. During your time as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and when Amina took over later on, I am aware that we had, for the first time, adopted a written foreign policy ...

16 Jan 2025 in National Assembly:
are not happy with the appointing authority. It is a way to assist the individual in becoming productive as soon as they take up the role. The world is experiencing a crisis today—the Middle East crisis, the Ukraine and Russia crisis, and the regime change in the US. It is high time that Kenyans appointed to these positions were individuals who could stand the test of time. They should be prepared individuals with the skills and interests of this country at heart and willing to go out of their way to promote this premier nation. You are aware that some ...
