  • 13 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, that does not send a signal of a reformed Judiciary; that does not send a signal that the Judiciary is working together under the able leadership of Dr. Willy Mutunga. It is food for thought. I am sure that Members in this House are greatly concerned. If the Judiciary wants us to respect the three arms of the Government then we expect, just like in Parliament where we have the Speaker who is the Chair of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC), not to give inconsistent and contradictory communication. view
  • 13 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: We cannot have a Judiciary where one hand nullifies an election and the other one upholds the election. This is the case and yet the IEBC has used enormous resources that belong to taxpayers. This is food for thought. I think it is better when Members discuss these issues under the LSK Bill, 2013 which is before us. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 13 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, with those few remarks, I beg to move and request the great Member for Meru County and one time Vice-Chair of the LSK, hon. Florence Kajuju, to second this Bill. view

Being the second day of the Second Session of the 11th Parliament, and in cognizant of the fact that Private Members’ Bills have expired and have to be renewed for this Session, the House Business Committee (HBC) did not have any Private Members’ Motions--- view
  • 12 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I mean Motions, and given that we have a number of Procedural Motions, I urge my colleagues that today we use this sitting for the agenda on the Order Paper. I, therefore, ask hon. Wakhungu to second. view

  • 12 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Hon Speaker, this is also in accordance with Standing Order No.97(4) which we need to do at the first Session of every House. It is to set the rules of the game from day one. So, I will ask the Minority Deputy Whip, hon. Wakhungu, to second. view
  • 12 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. The Chair was very kind because this Bill has stayed in this House for too long, but I beg to move that the National Police Service (Amendment) Bill be read a Second Time. I will be very brief so that I can give more Members time to speak as per our discussions this morning. This is an amendment to the principal Act of the National Police Service. As per the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, which established the National Police Service, and then provided The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. ... view
