  • 28 Feb 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. Let me start by congratulating the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Livestock and Development, Hon. Linturi, who was a former Senator in this House. I know when we speak here as Senators, you understand what we are talking about and where we are coming from. I want to congratulate you because you are really on the spot on answering the questions. However, my worry and concern is about mangoes, avocados and passions in Machakos County. Farmers do a lot of work to produce all these fruits and by the time ... view
  • 27 Feb 2024 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, thank you for the opportunity to support, with changes, the Report by the Standing Committee on Energy. Madam Temporary Speaker, I commend them for the good work they have done. There are just a few things they overlooked. One of them is that Masinga Dam produces 1.56 billion cubic meters of water, capable of generating 40 Megawatts of electricity, yet there are homes surrounding Masinga Dam that have no electricity. I wonder why they cannot consider and connect all those people with electricity. view
  • 22 Feb 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to support this Bill on Parliamentary Powers and Privileges. It is overdue. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have been here since the last Senate. I have experienced a lot of frustrations, especially when the governors are called to appear before CPICSF and they do not come. Most of them do not give an excuse or write to say that they are busy and will not make it. This Bill will give the Senate and the Senators teeth to bite. It is very frustrating for us as lawmakers when we summon these ... view

  • 21 Feb 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for this opportunity to contribute to this document. I commend the team that came together, sat and compiled this Report. The only issue I will raise is about two-thirds gender rule. This is an issue that has been troubling Kenyans for a long time. It is not easy for any woman to go out there and get a seat. It takes a lot of strength for a woman to vie with men and get a seat. One has to build a very thick skin because of the bullying that we get from men, to stand ... view
  • 21 Feb 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Sen. Orwoba should not be wasting a lot of time. view
  • 21 Feb 2024 in Senate: The cost of living is very high. We were going to the ground to know what the ground was saying and how it was feeling about the cost of living. Wherever we go, we get some people who do not have food. As we are saying that view
  • 21 Feb 2024 in Senate: , people are crying and are having it rough. Mr. Speaker, Sir, on the e-citizen’s way of paying school fees, there was a clip running around where a man took goats to a shopkeeper and told him to put those goats in the e-citizen, so that he could pay fees and that he would also bring firewood there. Some of these things are good, but some people cannot do them. We must also check how much such people are going to be catered for in the Government for them to live comfortably. I pray and beg that the taxes be ... view
