There was an attempt by the Government to settle those people who were in Drake and Kaseku farms. It is this idea of the Government saying every time that money is not enough that makes people leave some work unfinished. The recommendation of the Committee is that since the Government was trying to do something about Drake Farm, let it proceed with the process, regularise it and settle those people because they are already on the ground. Speaker, I beg to move the following Motion:- THAT, this House adopts the Report of the Departmental Committee on Lands on Land issues in Taita Taveta County, laid on the Table of the House on Thursday, 25th June 2015. I want to thank the House Business Committee for having slotted this Motion for debate because it had taken long. You realise that issues on land can change and they change very quickly at times. It is good for us to debate the report and give some solutions for some of these problems.

First of all, may I begin by thanking your good office and that of the Clerk for enabling this Committee to carry out its mandate, especially on land issues in Taita Taveta where they are very emotive. I also want to thank the Members of the Committee for having found time to carry out this particular duty besides their other schedules.
