However, it should be noted that the process will be done in consultation with the local forest conservation committee in the county and the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife. Thereafter, a Cabinet Memorandum will have to be done for approval by Parliament. view
  • 30 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: Two, squatters in Phase One of Mochongoi Settlement Scheme were issued with title deeds through a presidential decree of 2007 before the degazettment was done. Residents of Blocks Two and Three will be issued with titles once the degazettement is done and other pending issues resolved. view

Issuance of title deeds in settlement schemes is an ongoing exercise which is normally done once the process of planning, survey and allocation is completed. Hon.   • 30 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: parts of Marmanet and Ol Arabel Forest to settle people whose land had been acquired by the Government for public use for example, Kiri Dam, which supplies Kabarnet Municipality; schools, hospitals, amongst other public utility facilities. The land has not been de-gazetted. It remains part of the forest to-date. The exercise was initiated and spearheaded by the Provincial Administration, and not the Ministry of Lands. Demarcation and survey works were undertaken by the Department of Survey and facilitated by the Department of Land Adjudication and Settlement. Member has agreed with me but because of the myriad problems that are facing the settlement scheme, it is only necessary for the Government to move in to make sure that some of the problems are sorted out. This is a matter that affects not only Mochongoi but many other settlement schemes in Kenya. Therefore, I am happy that she has agreed with me on this point.
