Member, Dr. Pukose, that I will have to consult with the Ministry as well as the Department of Forestry so that I can bring a comprehensive Statement to the House. Speaker, before I make the commitment, I wish to seek your indulgence in the matters of interpretation of the roles of the two Committees of Lands and the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Co-operatives. A matter of membership of a co-operative society lies in the co-operative movement and not in the lands, per se . But from where I sit, as a Committee, we can only establish that maybe a certain co-operative movement owns that chunk of land. In terms of the disputes within the co-operative movement, it is within the purview or the docket of a Co-operative officer. That matter lies in a different Committee all together. Speaker, this is a matter which is very important even to the nation because most Kenyans now have become desperate in trying to acquire these documents for ownership of their pieces of land. Sometimes some of these settlement schemes have been done haphazardly and that encourages even further squatting than the Government had planned. Therefore, it is a matter that I need to dig deep, more so because I know about Mochongoi Settlement Scheme which is in Baringo. With the indulgence of the hon. Member, I can give the answer in three weeks’ time. view
