  • 24 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also rise to support this good Bill. Many Kenyans have silently suffered for a long time under the hands of employers who are not sensitive to the welfare of Kenyan workers. This Bill is addressing quite a number of issues that if it is well implemented, it will improve not only the morale, but also the stamina of our workers to perform. Therefore, it will improve productivity which eventually will improve our economy. Many of our workers have silently suffered under very bad working conditions, some physical and some emotional. • 17 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Information and Communications:- (a) why M/s Safaricom Ltd is charging Kenyans residing in parts of Busia, including those resident 30 kilometers from the border, international call rates, (b) what measures he is taking to protect Kenyans from the inflated charges; and, (c) if he could ensure that the company compensates the citizens for the loss. view
  • 17 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Assistant Minister for the answer he has given. At least, it makes sense contrary to the previous one he gave in this House. However, most customers cannot keep on adjusting their phones as he advises them to do. In fact, many customers are not even aware of this advice. What can he do so that Safaricom can help the people there because it looks like their machines are weaker than the machines on the other side? view
  • 17 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. What you are saying is exactly what I want to tell him. When you are in Uganda, the same thing does not affect Ugandans because I have been there. But when you are in Kenya, it affects Kenyans. view
  • 17 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Why is the Assistant Minister continuously evading the Question? Why are we being charged more when we are in Kenya yet the Kenyan mobile service providers should have the ability to set their machines so that we pay the local charges rather than the foreign charges? This is being done at the border points like Busia. view
  • 17 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I have already indicated that when you are in Uganda, it does not happen. I have been there severally. It only happens when you are on the Kenyan side. I have indicated that before. view
  • 3 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Information and Communications:- (a) why M/s Safaricom Ltd is charging Kenyans residing in parts of Busia, including those residing 30 kilometres from the border, international call rates; (b) what measures the Minister is taking to protect Kenyans from the inflated charges; and, (c) whether he could ensure that the company compensates the citizens for the loss. I also wish to bring to your attention that this Question was dealt with last week. But you directed the Minister to bring a detailed report today. view
  • 3 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. We have given him the answer. He could do it on behalf of his colleague! view
  • 3 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, is the Assistant Minister aware that the road between Bumala and Port Victoria extends beyond Bumala and goes up to Ejinja? It is referred to as C30 Road, and the bitumen standard has been done from Bumala to Port Victoria. They have left that other part between Bumala and Ejinja. Could the Assistant Minister tell this House when the works on the remaining part of C30 will be undertaken; that is, between Bumala and Ejinja? view
  • 3 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. The road that the Assistant Minister is talking about has been designed; the surveyor has done everything and even the contractor has been awarded the contract. Could you inform the House how much money has been allocated for it in this financial year, because everything has been done? view
