  • 20 Mar 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to address this august House. My names are Mr. Alfred Wekesa Sambu. I am the hon. Member for Webuye Constituency. From the outset, I would like to thank the people of Webuye Constituency for taking 20 years to elect me as their hon. Member! view

To the contrary, I look at it with a lot of satisfaction, because over the 20-year period I have had 20 years experience in facing the challenges posed by ethnicity. • 17 Oct 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I would not like to interrupt our colleague, Ms. Ndung'u. However, the Motion that she is moving must be the same as the one in the Order Paper, unless there are two versions of this Motion. Instead of the words, "ought to lead" she said, "must lead". That is what I heard. view
  • 17 Oct 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, when the hon. Member was reading from the words, "Kenya is now the Chair of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region and, therefore, ought to lead---" I heard her say, "must lead". That is a very different Motion all together! view
  • 17 Oct 2007 in National Assembly: In that case, it is sad--- I am Sambu! Not you! Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, it is sad that we are bringing up issues like these here. For example, when we say:- "equally accessible to boys and girls and men and women". When we give bursaries, we do not--- We just see that he or she is from Mosop and I give the bursary! Why are we bringing up issues like this? Let us shoot it down! view
  • 17 Oct 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to support the amendments that have been made to the Constituencies Development Fund Act. Those who talk about majimbo should know that this is the best majimbo. We only need the Government to increase it to 10 per cent next year and we will re-elect them! 4588 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES October 17, 2007 view

  • 16 Oct 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, as I said, three or four districts in the North Rift have received rains this year which are much higher than normal. Consequently, most of the roads which are not tarmacked are in very poor condition. The rains have now subsided. When I demanded a Ministerial Statement from the Minister, Mr. Nyachae, promised that there would be emergency repairs of these Roads D305, D288, D289 (Mosoriot-Chepteruai-Rivatex-Kipkaren--- view
