  • 5 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: On a point of order, hon. Speaker, Sir. Is the hon. Member in order when he says that nominees have come from being conductors to being pilots knowing that he also jumped from being a councilor to become a Member of Parliament? view
  • 5 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I had actually lost hope because I have waited for a long time. I rise to support the Motion for which I have passion because we have realized that, just like in urban areas, there is a rise in cancer diseases in the rural areas. Many people in the rural areas get those diseases without knowing. It takes very long for one to know that he or she has a renal or cancer disease. Therefore, we need to devolve health services to the counties and beyond. If we are going to support devolution, then everything ... view
  • 22 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to support this Motion and thank hon. Ganya for bringing it at the right time. As many Members have already said, poaching is a threat to our economy and our heritage. Some of us live side by side with wildlife. We treasure it. Actually, without wildlife some of our communities will not survive. Where I come from, wildlife graze alongside the domestic animals. The threat we are faced with is partly because of our neighbours. This is because of illegal firearms. In countries like Botswana and South Africa the ban on ... view
  • 15 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to support this Motion. Let me say that it is not only the nursing homes that are important, they need income. Every single hour, we become old. So, becoming old is golden. The previous governments neglected the elderly. When we were doing campaigns, apart from the issue of the youth, our constituents wanted to know the plans we had for the elderly. In the previous government, a fund was established to pay the elderly, those who had reached the age of 65 years, a stipend. Unfortunately, not all the elderly in ... view

  • 15 May 2013 in National Assembly: I want to thank you sincerely for giving me this chance. You know I have been standing since morning. I have noted a few things in this House since I came here. I think we have become a House of--- We are not doing very well in terms of who is supposed to speak. I have seen Members standing on points of order when there is nothing that is out of order. Some of us have failed to respect the rules of the House. They are the ones who stand on points of order. What is happening is that we ... view
  • 15 May 2013 in National Assembly: Having seen the nursing services in the USA, I think I want to support this Motion half-heartedly. Why do I say that? I have seen how the elderly are treated within the nursing system in the USA. They are abused and a lot of things are done to them. In my own mind, I have always thought that the best way that an elderly member can get care is if he or she is taken care of by the members of the immediate family. I think our African traditions are enough to cater for that. In most places where I ... view
  • 15 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you. I thought we could talk about those issues. Anyway, let me come back to the elderly again, before I sit down. I want to say that for us to be able to represent our people, including the elderly, we must have protection from the civil society people. We must have them away from Parliament and that is when we can have debates in this House, including the one touching on the elderly. Thank you. view
  • 9 May 2013 in National Assembly: I want to say that I am very impressed as a person and as a Member of this House for what you have done for our country. We are happy with what Jubilee has promised and has delivered. So, for the first time places like Samburu will feel that they belong to this country because of devolution. Having said that, I am a little bit concerned that as Members of this House the budget for the Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution (CIC) has not been discussed in this House in depth. I have seen our country grow into ... view

My names are Alois Musa Lentoimaga, Member of Parliament for Samburu North. I want to take this opportunity, first of all, to thank people of Samburu North and specifically Baawa, Opiroi, Angata Nanyuki, Ele Barta, Ndoto and Nyiro for electing me to represent them in this House. I want to assure them that I will do my work diligently and I will not discriminate any community in that area. I want to assure them that I will do that in ... view
