  • 20 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, if that is what the hon. Member wanted us to give him, then he should have asked that Question and we would have provided a specific answer. However, as the Question is, the hon. Member only wanted to know how much compensation is offered per vital organ or limp maimed. I have said that there is no specific figure until an assessment is carried out by a medical doctor. view
  • 14 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) Yes, I am aware. (b) The evidence gathered in the course of investigations did not establish the whereabouts of this missing lady. Police completed preliminary investigations and forwarded the file to the Attorney-General for direction. It has been decided that the file remains open for the police to continue with their investigations. So, investigations are still going on. view
  • 14 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I agree with the hon. Member that this is a serious matter. Mrs. Esther Musasia simply disappeared from her home, and the matter was reported to the police at Elburgon. An inquiry was instituted and we have been asking for anybody with information from around Elburgon to come forward and give us that information. Such information will help us to trace this missing woman. That is why we are still appealing that anybody with information should come forward and help to resolve this matter. We are treating it with the seriousness it deserves. view
  • 14 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we require information to resolve this case. I am sure that it is up to us, members of the public, to work with the police; the file is still open. That is why I am saying that anybody with information that can assist us should come forward. view
  • 14 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, any information that was given to us was investigated thoroughly. But it has not yet led us to discover the whereabouts of Mrs. Esther Musasia. That is why we are looking for more information from the public. view

  • 14 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) A total of Kshs11.5 million was spent by the West Pokot District Security Intelligence Committee for the purpose of disarmament in the area. However, much more has been spent by other Government departments in the implementation of various other sectoral development projects as part of the disarmament programme. (b) To date, more than 2,281 firearms and 4,741 rounds of ammunition have been surrendered or recovered in the North Rift through this programme. view
  • 14 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we have answered Questions in this House about the disarmament exercise. During the several meetings that we have held with the leaders from this area, it has been agreed that instead of stating the number of guns which have been recovered by the various District Officers, we should state the general number of firearms that have been recovered from the entire area. This is the new approach that we have decided to use. With regard to what the other Government departments are doing, as we carry out the disarmament exercise, several other projects are going on ... view
