  • 30 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, we will communicate to the Minister who has left Parliament buildings so that he can prepare a Statement. I believe Thursday next week might be the earliest he will get on the queue. view

  • 30 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I did not want to interrupt, but some facts need to be properly put before this House. The Chairman of the Committee was very categorical that hon. Kimunya cancelled the contract yet in the same report, on pages 19 and 20 of the Auditor-General’s Report, it is very clear that the special board of directors approved cancellation and the board cancelled in December. So, is he in order to mislead the House? view

  • 29 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise to support the Motion by hon. Karua and thank her for bringing this matter to the House. Mr. Speaker, Sir, from the outset, I would like to regret the loss of lives that have occurred in our coastal town of Mombasa and condemn the violence that has resulted and turned that beautiful city and coastal region, from the tourism haven that we know it, to a place where people are now fearing to get. Mr. Speaker, Sir, as we do this, I would like to appeal to the people within the coastal region ... view
  • 24 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, as the House will recall, this is a special sitting that was convened for purposes of doing the constitutional Bills. Therefore, we have not prepared to interrupt the wishes of the Members by issuing any Statements. Those will come on Tuesday and after. view

  • 24 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, I rise on a point of order to move:- THAT the Committee do report progress to the House and seek leave to sit again. Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, as Members will notice, we are only done half way into the matters we agreed to do today. To allow for adequate consultations on all these very important Bills, it is important that we, first of all, report progress and then we when get to the House, we seek to leave to meet again in the afternoon. ( Question proposed) view
