  • 1 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. Mine is actually about a Statement which I sought the last Tuesday before we went on recess from the Committee on Education, Research and Technology. It is flabbergasting, astonishing, amusing and mesmerizing to note that up to this very moment, I have not been answered. It is about shortage of teachers in my constituency of Mwatate. Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. view
  • 18 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you hon. Speaker, Sir. Mine is on the same request for statements. • 6 Aug 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order No.44(2)(c), I wish to seek a Statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology concerning the shortage of teachers countrywide. This is interfering with quality of education in the country. For instance, in Mwatate Constituency and in Taita Taveta County, there is a shortage of 134 primary school teachers and 353 secondary school teachers and yet, we were only given 15 primary school teachers and 78 secondary school teachers. This is of concern as some teachers will also retire this year, thus compounding the problem. In her Statement, the ... view
  • 31 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Shukrani Mhe.
  • 10 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I am here to support this Motion. We know the world is going towards “green”. To realize that noble objective of going green, we must have more power penetration to our villages. Liberalising KP is like devolving the services. The Government Manifesto is for creating more jobs. For that to become a reality, we need to have more power. Actually, that goes hand in hand with job creation. view
  • 10 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Mwatate Constituency is very rich in minerals. But due to lack of power, we cannot do mining. That has left the people of Mwatate to grapple with poverty. This Motion has come at the right time. I stand to support this Motion. view
