As a teacher who has served in the rural areas, I have come across bright students who passed their KCPE very well but who, because they did not have people to support them, ended up not joining secondary. Pursuant to Standing Order 44(2)(c), I would like to request a Statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Energy, Communication and Information regarding the suspension of the Managing Director of Kenya Pipeline Corporation, Mr. Selest Kilinda. There are allegations that his suspension was as a result of nepotism and inefficiency witnessed at the Corporation. In his Statement, the Chairperson of the Committee should clarify whether the allegations regarding the MD’s suspension are accurate and if not, state whether the Government could consider reinstating him to his position. Actually, this Motion is in line with the spirit, objectives and principles of devolution. Treatment of cancer, renal and kidney-related diseases is directly proportional to the cost of living. At the moment, many people are suffering from kidney-related diseases and the cost of treating them is very high. Therefore, Hon. Gitari has brought this Motion before this House at the right time.
