This is done basically to ensure that the police do not use this provision to apply force arbitrarily or create a situation where excessive use of firearms may lead to extra- judicial killings. Therefore, that is my amendment. view

• 30 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I propose the Question that the notice be amended by inserting the words “subject to recommital”. So, I am saying that Section 13 of the main clause be retained because if it is not retained, then we will have no mechanism of replacing a Deputy Inspector-General in case a vacancy arises. It will mess up the entire law and so we want to make sure that the entire section is retained. view
