  • 9 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I want from the outset to congratulate Mr. Keynan for taking this initiative. We, as the representatives of the people, there are times when you cannot wait for the Executive to sort out issues. The economy is a very important function of the State. Through the fluctuation of the currency what has happened is that in addition to the investors, the common view
  • 9 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: has adversely been affected. Life has become impossible to bear because of increased cost of living. For investors also who are the ones who are responsible for creating wealth and employment, it has also become extremely unbearable and the economy is unpredictable. Because of that unpredictability, therefore, investor confidence is lost. Once the investor confidence is lost, then this economy will come to a standstill. This House cannot wait. Indeed, I am happy that the Mover of this Motion has said “within 60 days”. So, if we are able to do it even earlier than the 60 days, the better ... view
  • 8 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Under what circumstances were Messrs. Yusuf Godana, Hassan Sheikh Birik Mohamed and James Waweru killed in Lafey District on 27th October, 2011? (b) Can the Minister confirm that the officers met their death while on duty? (c) What assistance did the Government extend to the families of the deceased during the burials? view
  • 8 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is the Assistant Minister in order to mislead the House that this Question has been dealt with when actually it was not? The first supplementary question was asked, but the Assistant Minister’s answer was so inaccurate that he did not have an answer! In fact, there was a lot of ineptitude portrayed! At that point, he was asked to go and get the right answer. Could he, please, take us through the entire Question? view
  • 8 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. The Assistant Minister is saying that this is not a matter for his Ministry. Is he in order then to deal with a matter that he is not competent to handle? view
  • 8 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Looking at the Question, I do not see how this matter is going to prejudice this case. The issue is not who owns the land. That is not what the House is going to deliberate on. It is about what led to the exhumation of a body. Again, the fact that it has been mentioned that there was dispute over the land does not necessarily prejudice this case. view

  • 8 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, this Assistant Minister seems to have been given wrong information. There is not a single cent that has been paid by this Ministry to the families of the deceased in support of the burial. The coffin was also paid for by the family. Indeed, even there was no vehicle. Even the aircraft was just going to pick the examination. It had to go round the whole of northern Kenya, but finally, it brought the body. Why is he giving wrong information on a matter that is sensitive of this nature? view
  • 8 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. It is unfair for the Government whoever wrote this letter--- view
  • 8 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: Yes, it is a point of order, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is it in order for the Assistant Minister to mislead this House when I have a copy of the receipt indicating that the family was paid in Nanyuki when the Assistant Minister here says it was done in Mandera? I have a copy which I hereby table. view
