The Mover is trying to amend the names in the Bill such as the Commissioner of Police to be the Inspector-General so that you put people who are responsible in terms of what is supposed to be done or to respond to questions wherever they are asked. We have to appreciate that the issue of alcohol in the country is a big ... view

I plead with all our Members to move in a direction where we can lobby and see things work. We want to thank the National Assembly for what they have done. Most of us who have gone through the lobbying to ensure that the Bill goes through know that we have a long way to go. For the sake of women, we will have an amendment later. • 4 Jun 2014 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I believe that this is something that we have continued advocating for. Indeed, it will be unfair and unjust for students in this country to spend all those years in school and not get their certificates that will enable them advance their education and lives. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, within the Jubilee Government, we have put in new measures to ensure that we support the budget for secondary schools. But as we do that, we need to go a further step and urge the principals of high schools to release any certificates that they are holding. ... view
  • 13 May 2014 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I also rise to thank the Committee and to say this. Indeed, we may be blaming the Governor and wondering why he did not appear before the Committee. However, the Governor may have realized that, indeed, he had violated the Constitution that he swore to protect and the Public Procurement and Disposal Act. Therefore, he thought that he only deserved to go home. We need to ask governors to look the law and to start following it. If they follow what the law says, they will not be impeached by the county assemblies. They will not find ... view
