  • 13 Sep 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has been publishing how the fuel prices are determined on a monthly basis, but they have not been doing the same for electricity. Therefore, it is leaving room for Kenya Power to exploit the consumers. What action is the Assistant Minister taking to ensure that even the determination of the cost of electricity is also published on a monthly basis, so that consumers are aware? view
  • 20 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Chair, I want to oppose that proposed amendment by Mr. Baiya. This is because although the Member argues that it is giving a procedure, it is actually giving the Registrar of Political Parties sweeping powers without any procedure at all to deem somebody as having resigned from a political party. I think there must be a better procedure that will ensure justice to the Member and to the party. This is actually attempting to give the Registrar of Political Parties sweeping powers to determine whether a Member has actually resigned from a party or not. view
  • 18 Apr 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I support the Motion. The change over from the former KCC to the New KCC amounted to a fraud. This is because when you decide to take over assets of a company you must as well take over the liabilities of that company. What happened at that time is that some people took over the assets and left the liabilities including the farmers’ money. Up to date we are informed that they have not been paid. We are saying that the farmers must be paid using the assets of the company and farmers must own this ... view
  • 7 Dec 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I support the Motion. We know that tea earns more foreign exchange than any other thing in Kenya. It earns more than tourism, for which we have a special Ministry. I think we should even create a Ministry of Tea because it generates more foreign exchange than any other product. Once the Government takes over these loans, the factories will manage their businesses. They will engage in activities that will generate more revenue for the factories. Kenya has the capacity to generate three times the tea we are currently generating and the market is there. ... view
  • 16 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is it in order for the Assistant Minister to mislead us that those schools which were promoted had teachers? We even had buildings before, but we decided that we wanted to make the best. If you increase infrastructure, it means that you must also increase the number of teachers. Is it in order for him to mislead us? view

  • 16 Jun 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, in his answer the Minister said the exercise of giving them land would take three months. Could he confirm that they will give them land within three months with effective from this month? Is it effective from this month? Could he also assure this House that he will also consider giving land to squatters residing near tea estates in Kericho? view
