  • 21 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: the Bill comes for the Second Reading. We have consolidated the amendments and we are dealing with the Treasury to agree on the final amendments. I will convene a meeting to agree on the final amendments for this Bill when it comes for the Third Reading. The Tax Procedure Bill, 2015 is yet to go for the Second Reading but we have done our bit as a Committee. We have engaged the stakeholders. We have compiled a report which I will table tomorrow.   • 21 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, we still have the petition by Hon. Joseph M’eruaki on the excise duty remission of sorghum. We have largely finalised it and the prayer has already been answered through the Excise Duty Bill, which we passed. The petition on the privatisation of Muhoroni Sugar Factory by Hon. Justice Kemei is still pending. It came at a time when we were passing the privatisation approval.   • 1 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Yes, Hon. Speaker. The Chairperson seems to be saying that there was a disconnect between the prayers and what the community wanted to do. I want to request your Office to ensure that we have a desk which can be facilitating members of the public who want to prepare Petitions. This is so, so that petitions that come to the Floor of the House reflect what the members of the public want. I have always encountered the same problem where you find prayers being sought being different from what the petitioners wanted. It puts the Committees in an awkward position. ... view

  • 27 Aug 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Speaker. I also want to congratulate our young men and women who did us proud in Beijing. On behalf of people back home, I am proud of them. They have also united Kenya. Going forward, we need to host a grand reception for them, because they have done us proud. I would like to encourage the Deputy Leader of the Minority Party, who normally enjoys football--- They should also attempt to make us proud.
