  • 27 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Minister says these projects have been fairly distributed all over the country. The list he has given me is written in small letters and it is also lengthy, therefore, I have not been able to go through it. Is he able to tell us which project was given to the people of Mumias? view
  • 26 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for National Heritage and Culture:- (a) what measures the Government has taken to protect and preserve land No. LR. East Wanga/Eluche/702, the cultural shrine of Nabongo Kweyu of Wanga Kingdom in Mumias Constituency; and, (b) whether he could consider allocating land to the family members of the kingdom for the preservation of the shrine. view
  • 26 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Assistant Minister for the answer, especially where he talks of kick-starting the process of recognizing this shrine afresh. I want to assure you, Mr. Assistant Minister, that I am available for consultation. I would just wish to know from you when we are likely to kick-start the process, so that I can consult His Highness, Morris Rapando, who is the current king. view
  • 26 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister was not clear in his answer, because he has not gazetted the shrine. What are you doing to recognize these cultural kings because the equivalent of the Nabongo of Wanga is Mukasa of Buganda? You will find that the Government of Uganda has recognized the king of the Baganda. Why is this Government, especially your Ministry, not recognizing the cultural kings that we have in this country? view
  • 13 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the current Constitution emphasizes a lot on fair distribution of resources. Electricity is one of the resources that need to be shared equally. You will find that there are some areas that have high connectivity while others like Marsabit and Mumias have very low connectivity. What has the Assistant Minister done in his Ministry to make sure there is fairness in the distribution of power? view
  • 6 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Minister for the answer. My supplementary question is closer to the one asked by hon. Koech. The Minister has isolated the problem of wananchi farming next to the streams. As he is aware, streams are supposed to be protected, so that they can have riparian areas. What is the Ministry doing to ensure that farmers do not farm very close to water bodies, including streams? view
  • 30 May 2012 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Higher Education, Science & Technology:- view
  • 30 May 2012 in National Assembly: (a) how much money has been loaned to each needy university student by the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB); view
  • 30 May 2012 in National Assembly: (b) whether he is aware that the amount is not sufficient to sustain the students, in view of the inflationary trends in the country; and, (c) whether he could consider allocating more funds to HELB to enable it meet the intended objectives. view
  • 30 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Assistant Minister for the answer. However, he has not considered the catch word, which is “needy.” He contradicts himself in the manner he answered this Question. First, he is in agreement that these funds are not adequate. He goes ahead to say that he is able to support the needy students. Does he know that in the category of “needy,” we have orphans who have no parents to cost-share with the Government? view
