  • 17 Apr 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to ask the Assistant Minister the logic behind the purchase of this grader. Was it to generate income for the county council or was it for the maintenance of roads? If it was for income generation, how does he treat it when he is doing budgets? How does he receive the money that is generated from the grader? Does he treat it as Appropriations -in-Aid (A-in-A) or how does he handle it because every year there is a budget for Butere-Mumias County Council? How does he treat the money or the income that is ... view
  • 15 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: Thank you Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to support this Motion, although reluctantly. It is unfortunate that we are going on recess when we have not looked at the Sugar Amendment Act. It is quite unfortunate because that Act came for the First Reading in December last year. Yesterday, it was listed for First Reading just because the House could not recall that it had already gone through that First Reading. As I agree with other Members who are supporting this Motion, I request that immediately the House resumes, we look at the amendments to the Sugar Amendment Act, ... view

  • 14 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: asked the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Government:- (a) what the current status and usage of the council grader based at the Butere-Mumias County Council is; (b) whether he could provide a list of roads in Mumias District whose maintenance have been undertaken using the grader during the 2009/10 and 2010/11 financial years; and (c) how much revenue the grader has generated for the County Council through hiring by contractors. view
  • 7 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would want to ask the Assistant Minister to identify the issues that make production of granite products more expensive in Kenya as opposed to China. He says imported granite products from China are cheaper than the ones produced here in Kenya. What causes the granite products in Kenya to be more expensive than those from China? view
  • 29 Feb 2012 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Agriculture:- (a) under what circumstances the term of Eng. Julius Nyarotho at Nzoia Sugar Company was terminated; and, (b) what steps have been taken to compensate him. view
  • 29 Feb 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this is the second time I am asking this Question. When it last came to the Floor, the Minister insisted that it is the President who revoked the appointment of Eng. Nyarotho. Looking at the answer, it appears that he still has the same answer. I do not know whether he now has any additional information. view
  • 29 Feb 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister has promised to give me a letter. In that case, could I seek the indulgence of the House to defer this Question to a later date, so that I can interrogate the letter and come back to the House? view
  • 29 Feb 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I will repeat. The Assistant Minister has promised to give me a letter explaining the reasons which made the President to revoke the appointment of the Chairman of Nzoia Sugar Company (NSC), Eng. J. Nyarotho. In that case, could I seek the indulgence of the House so that the Assistant Minister avails the letter to me? I will then interrogate the letter and then come back to the House. I seek the indulgence of the House to defer the Question to a later date. view
