  • 23 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to join my colleagues in thanking the Prime Minister for the Statement. However, I do not know whether the Prime Minister is aware that this gadget has enhanced cheating. The users of mobile phones cheat a lot especially with regard to location. I do not know what the Prime Minister’s Office is doing to curtail that. In Uganda, for example, if you are in Bugiri, the handset will tell you that you are in Bugiri. The same applies to other locations in Uganda. What is the Government doing to ensure that this gadget is not ... view
  • 22 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I have noted with a lot of interest that Members from a certain region are not in this House. Is that in order? view
  • 17 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Lands:- (a) whether he is aware that the land meant for Busia Airstrip has been sub-divided and allocated to individuals; and, (b) what measures he is taking to ensure that the land reverts to its original use. view
  • 17 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, taking the House through memory lane, on 25th January, 2003, there was a fatal accident on that airstrip, where we lost an hon. Member of this House by the name of hon. Ahmed Khalif and two pilots. Amongst hon. Members of this House who were in that plane were hon. Martha Karua, hon. Kilimo and hon. Tuju. Others were Mrs. Kuria. view
  • 17 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am taking the House through memory lane first, so that I can put the question to the Minister for Lands. view
  • 17 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: The then Minister for Transport, hon. John Michuki, appointed a Commission, which was headed by Mr. Mutunga. Among the reasons that the Commission gave for that accident was that the runway was over 1,000 metres but 300 metres had been interfered with. Since 2003, when this accident occurred, has the Minister for Lands done anything to make sure that the length of the runway is back to its normal size? view
  • 16 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. We are not going to let the Minister run away with this. In his answer, he said that he is likely to pick an MD from milk-producing areas. view
  • 16 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: He went on to add that even in our places like Mumias, they must recruit an MD from Mumias region and that SONY must recruit an MD from Sony! view
  • 15 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Part (b) of this Question is very clear. The Member wanted to know when the Government will fully implement the Sugar Act, 2001. In that Act, there is a clause that clearly dictates that 51 per cent of sugar factories be owned by farmers. The Question is very clear and I wish the Assistant Minister could address the issue of 51 per cent ownership of sugar factories by farmers. view
  • 18 Jan 2011 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Co-operative Development and Marketing:- (a) whether he could explain why officers who have been surcharged by the High Court are still serving at Mumias Savings and Credit Co-operative Society (MOSACCO) in Mumias; and, (b) what he is doing to address gross mismanagement and corruption in the said SACCO. view
