  • 9 Oct 2018 in Senate: Once, again, I support this timely and important Bill. It is not the first time that this issue is coming to the Floor of the House. It has been discussed before, although not much implementation has taken place. I, therefore, urge the Committee that is in charge of this Bill to look at previous legislations and find out why this has not been implemented the way it should have. Maybe, from that, we could have some amendments to this Bill, which will make it possible to be fully implemented. This is a useful and well-written Bill. However, I feel like ... view
  • 4 Oct 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, thank you for giving me this opportunity to also add my voice to this very important Bill. I would also like to congratulate the Mover of this Bill, Sen. Cheruiyot. It is a very important Bill, just like all the Senators who have spoken before me have noted. It has come at a very opportune time when we are seeing many elderly people suffering. However, I would like to caution my colleagues that we should come up with a Bill which is implementable. It is a Government policy that any Bill that cannot be funded will not ... view
  • 2 Aug 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for the opportunity to contribute to this very sad issue. Let me start by congratulating the Members of the Committee and the Chair for such lovely piece of work. I know it was with a very heavy heart to go through all those issues. However, you have done a very commendable job and with your heart in it. When I heard about this tragedy and having watched the news on television, it looked like a movie. It did not seem like real happenings until one realises it is. It was with great sadness to see ... view

  • 19 Jul 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to also say a word or two about this Motion. From the outset, I support and congratulate Sen. Kasanga for bringing it. We encourage her to go ahead and bring a Bill so that it can become a law. A lot has been said about road construction, especially feeder roads or access roads in rural areas. I do not wish to repeat what has been said. However, let me emphasise the importance of these feeder and access roads. We congratulate the Government for a lot of work that has been ... view
  • 12 Jun 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. I also rise to support this Petition by Sen. Nyamunga. Surely, the people who are supporting these policies are embarrassing the Government. We know that Government leaders have time and time again talked about opening plants for assembling vehicles here in Kenya, which has happened. So, we would like to urge those who formulate the policies now that we have come to this era of stopping corruption absolutely, to follow the line. It cannot be anything else but looking for kickbacks. There is a time to think Kenyan and that ... view
  • 7 Jun 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for the opportunity to also support this very important Motion. I also congratulate the Senator for this timely Motion. This is a big problem, not only in Nairobi, but all over the country. I would like to tell my friend, the Senator, that it is not only one case, but many cases. Maybe it is only that this one case of Moi Nairobi Girls Secondary School was given such publicity. We, therefore, commend the Minister for Education for the action she took immediately. That should be just the beginning; she must go deeper into this. ... view
