  • 16 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Madam Temporary Speaker. I would like the House to understand me very well. I did not refer to the Kenyatta National Hospital. I referred to the Kenyatta University Teaching, Research and Referral Hospital. view
  • 16 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: Why can you not listen? I am a doctor of medicine. You are not. The formation of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Research and Referral Hospital is an attempt to start a medical school there and put up a teaching and referral hospital, 28 kilometers from Kenyatta National Hospital. What is the use of putting up a second teaching and referral hospital here at Juja when other far flung areas like Kakamega and Kisumu would do well with these kind of universities? I am insisting that the money meant for health; US$558.2 million has been shared amongst these hospitals. Those hospitals ... view
  • 16 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Speaker, I would like to respond to the two points of order by Sen. Murkomen whom I respect and Sen. Wamatangi. You should see the difference. The difference is that there is no bias in terms of admission to university for students in any part of the country. As far as the teaching and research is concerned, this is perfectly in order. However, once a university hospital becomes a teaching and referral hospital, besides teaching students, it serves people in the catchment area for medical ailments at a very sophisticated level. This is not hypothesis but real. You ... view

  • 15 Jul 2014 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, in 2010, two things happened; we promulgated the new Constitution and the credit rating became the norm in the country. The two points I want him to clarify are; why is it that even with more judges being employed, Kenyans who are seeking credit are being punished because of the slow process of settling commercial disputes and the Government is watching but does not ensure that the particular department in the commercial justice system is served with enough judges so that the process is efficient? The second one is the issue of credit rating. Granted that in ... view
  • 15 Jul 2014 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I just want to draw your attention to the fact that since the Senators are very committed in Committees and elsewhere, they have started walking out of the Chamber. Given that we are due for a Division, could you consider bringing it forward, so that we can capitalize on the presence of the Senators at the moment? view
  • 15 Jul 2014 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Thank you for allowing me. Since this screen was put there for us, we have noticed the numbers build then they started dropping again. There is a possibility that somebody might have fiddled with the button. For that reason, I request that you restart the voting. view
  • 15 Jul 2014 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to support this Bill very strongly and find a rare opportunity to congratulate the Jubilee Coalition Government for coming up with this very important Bill. I would like to advance the case of the youth and point out that as I support all the clauses in this Amendment Bill, youth do not just have access to procurement simply because of the absence of a law. The law is now there. However, there are other serious challenges that make it difficult for our youth to get an opportunity to get these tenders. High on the ... view

Beatrice was rising on a point of order, is she in order to use that opportunity to further mislead the House that this Government extends money to organizations that are The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
