  • 31 Jul 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. With a lot of meaning. It is also this poor conduct by heads of institutions that cause confusion among the youth until the youth think they should come and storm this Parliament. If anybody had properly guided our youth, and if the youth had chosen to storm this Parliament, they would not have come to the Senate. They would have gone to the National Assembly. The Finance Bill does not go through the Senate. The Finance Bill that almost caused us to lose this House goes to the National Assembly. They should have gone ... view

  • 31 Jul 2024 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, pursuant to Standing Order No. 110(1), I beg to move the debate on the Land (Amendment) Bill (National Assembly Bills No.40 of 2022) to be now adjourned. This is because we are talking about land which is important, and emotive. So far, we have attracted only three contributions, and many Members, especially those of the Minority side, are held up in a meeting, consulting. So, I would like to give them an opportunity, through your guidance, so that they can contribute to this Bill tomorrow. view

  • 30 Jul 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. It is a privilege for me to welcome the young women from Namibia. I am truly impressed. African women are coming of age. The delegation is composed of women only. It is so nice. Kenyans must learn from this. Mr. Speaker, Sir, these are very exciting times because up North, Kamala Harris is about to become the President of the United States of America (USA). Good women, go and take care of our men in Namibia, but kindly do not “sit” on them the way Kenyan women do to Kenyan men. view
  • 30 Jul 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Pursuant to Standing Order No.53(1), I rise to seek a statement from the Standing Committee on Finance and Budget in respect of the non-use of the 50 cent coins and the one shilling coins in trading activities in this country. In the statement, the committee should- (a) Sate how much money's worth of these coins was minted and released into circulation when the new generation coins were unveiled. (b) Explain why these coins are no longer in use for trading. (c) Outline the inflationary impact the failure of using these coins has caused on the ... view
  • 30 Jul 2024 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to thank you for that ruling, but I would like to request you to make a clarification. Kenya is becoming more and more transparent. Gen Z would like to know that the reason why there was confusion is that some of the people wanted to lock out their own children that they have birthed. This law is trying to protect--- view
  • 30 Jul 2024 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, may I seek a clarification? The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Director, Hansard and AudioServices, Senate. view
  • 30 Jul 2024 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, the clarification I seek is that, that being the case, it means even before we take the vote, we must have at least 45 delegations in the House. Since there are no 45 delegations now, we cannot proceed with this vote. Could you issue that clarification? view
  • 30 Jul 2024 in Senate: Sorry, Madam Temporary Speaker, we do need 45 Members. Can you issue that clarification further? We cannot proceed. view
