  • 4 Jun 2024 in National Assembly: Lastly, it is particularly alarming that those demolitions take place without a clear and transparent compensation plan in place. The Government’s purported compensation plan appears to be limited to a few individuals, leaving many rightful land owners in state of uncertainty and despair. It is against this background that I request for a statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Lands on the following: 1. What measures has the Ministry put in place to ensure a fair and transparent compensation process for land owners affected by those demolitions? 2. Outline the specific plans for providing resettlement options for ... view

  • 11 Apr 2024 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to weigh in on the debate about the recruitment by different Government agencies and institutions. Nairobi has become disenfranchised because even when they come for recruitment, they tell the persons who are being recruited to look at the back of the identity cards. You know very well that most of the people were not born in Nairobi because a majority come from up-country. It is only us, Members of Parliament, who know our registered voters. We have the biggest number of registered voters in this country. Nairobi County accounts for ... view

  • 9 Apr 2024 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I wanted to contribute to this issue because the picketing is happening in my constituency. I have been getting calls from all corners asking me what is going on in my constituency. It is such a shame that we have got to the point where doctors are picketing given that being a doctor is considered one of the most lucrative careers for the youth. On the issue of interns and doctors, I sat down with the officials of the association. It is clear that some Members in this House do not understand the issues that the ... view

  • 9 Apr 2024 in National Assembly: I wanted to bring the issue to the fore because I do not think doctors are in the mood to picket. It is only that they have not been heard. There is also the issue that the Leader of the Majority Party has brought out so well. He stated that there are more than 2,200 intern doctors who have graduated and will be absorbed. From the records, there were 7,893 intern doctors in 2018. We now have over 9,600 intern doctors, of whom only 1,800 will be absorbed as full-fledged doctors. Many doctors are overqualified and work as interns. I ... view
