  • 5 Mar 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I beg to lay the following Paper on the Table of the House: Delegation Report of the Oversight Inspection Visit to Kenya Diplomatic Missions in Zambia and South Africa from 1st to 8th September 2019. view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. On my own behalf and on behalf of my father, the late Philip Kilonzo’s family and the people of Yatta, we mourn with the Moi’s family and in particular with our colleagues, Raymond and Gideon. view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: I cannot forget that the late President attended my father’s funeral in 1997. Mzee Moi is the original baba . He knew when to let go and in 2002, he handed over power. He knew when change was needed and in 1992, he allowed multi-party democracy. He knew how to sack because there was no stepping aside in his regime. May his soul rest in peace. view
  • 5 Dec 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. In the interest of time, I have only two issues to mention. As a Committee, we were a little disappointed as to why the Executive took its sweet time from 2016 to bring this matter for ratification. • 5 Dec 2019 in National Assembly: The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 5 Dec 2019 in National Assembly: For instance, this Convention can be used to combat money laundering, issues of corruption and more importantly, terrorism financing. Another item that I need to bring to the attention of the Members is that when a signed State makes a request, it is supposed to act as if the subject avoiding payment taxes is a member of their country. So, this is a matter which was brought to the Committee. We felt that the delay by the Executive was not warranted and this House should ratify the Convention for the good of this country. view
  • 14 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to issue a Statement on behalf of the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations regarding a Treaty that is before the Committee. This is a treaty on International Hydrographic Organization Convention. view
  • 14 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: As you may recall, the Leader of the Majority Party sometimes back stood on the Floor of the House and raised concern on the delay by the committees in processing business before them, including this Treaty that was apparently submitted to the National Assembly on 5th June 2018. I can confirm that the Treaty had not been forwarded at the time to the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations for processing for ratification. The Treaty was, however, subsequently committed to us on 17th September 2019. Notwithstanding the delay, the Committee undertook to consider it and was promptly briefed by ... view

  • 14 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: fully briefed by the ministries concerned. Therefore, it has decided to wait for the Executive to put its house in order and communicate with the Committee. view
