I am a member of the Departmental Committee on Sports, Culture and Tourism. I have also participated in East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) games and won 12 gold medals for this Parliament. Hon. Shockingly, I went to Marsabit and Wote stadia - which we have paid a lot of money for - and found that the situation is very bad and pathetic. We do not even know what Kshs113 million was used to do in Wote and Marsabit stadia. view

I was brought up in Europe and I have attended many international games like the Olympics, World Cup in Russia and others. I have also visited the Arsenal Stadium and Manchester City. We are shamelessly building shoddy things and calling them stadia. We have absolutely no stadia status in this country. Even the Nyayo National Stadium does not meet international standards. (ii) What has caused the delay in effecting the said compensation, which was awarded following the death of one Lucas Mutuku Kilyungi, who passed on following a road accident involving a Ministry of Education Motor Vehicle Registration No. GK A945G? I would like to inform you that I was part of the delegation of Members who travelled to Western Kenya and Nyanza to investigate this matter. I recall that the effort took two days traversing and criss-crossing Muhoroni, Chemelil, Mumias, Miwani and all the way to South Nyanza Sugar Company. The National Treasury made a commitment to come up with a strategy to revive the industry, but nothing has been done so far.
