Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as I mentioned earlier, I just wanted to confirm from the outset that it is true that this sugar issue did not start yesterday. I happen to have worked for the KNTC for a while. Indeed, we have had these issues of sugar importation since 1991. One wonders why, all of a sudden, it looks like we have just made a new discovery. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, importation of sugar is killing our industries. Every year when long rains came, there was pretence to import sugar in the country and it has not stopped. ...

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise to confirm that if this Petition is brought to our Committee, we will deal with it. However, let me also inform the House that we are on it already. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I also rise to support the Statement by Sen. Nyamunga. I am the Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism, Trade and Industrialization and we are currently inquiring into the fall of the retail markets. Some of the issues that are coming up from the stakeholders are worrying. In our meeting today, we were taken through the process of how we missed it from the early 1960s. Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I also add my voice to support the Senator for Nairobi City County. In particular, he has talked about dry taps in Nairobi City. I happen to have been one of the pioneer commercial directors of the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC). It is an area that Sen. Sakaja would need to dig deeper. As we know, for the last one year or so, the NCWSC been without a board of directors. At the same time, we also know that there are talks of privatising the company. I am privy to information that ...

Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, from where I stand, the President’s Speech has a score card. I do not want to dwell much on how the scorecard looks like. I want to look at the issues that need to be expanded or implemented so that we can move forward. The next time our President is giving his Speech, we can all stand and cheer him. The President mentioned the Big Four Agenda which we support wholeheartedly. However, time is running out.Every time I hear about the issues we need to do, I get worried. We need technical support to construct 500 ...
