Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I rise to support this amendment but my worry is when you read further, the report prepared by Committee of Parliament and adopted by the relevant House, shall be suspended until investigations are complete.

When you read the amendment, initially it was: “A state officer or a public officer with executive responsibility who has been adversely mentioned in a report prepared by a committee of a House of Parliament, and adopted by the relevant House, shall be suspended until investigations are complete.” I was looking at it in line with the--- Let us look at the San Marco case. By replacing the word “except” and putting the word “including”, it is making it inclusive. That does not mean that once you have a charter you are exempted from this. There is that continuous inspection which this Commission will be doing. So, it should not be “except”. It should be “including” so that it is all inclusive. I support. Thank you.

Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support these amendments as recommended by His Excellency the President. Some of these amendments are basic. For instance, one of them was changing “Minister” to “Cabinet Secretary”. It is obvious in the Constitution that we do not have Ministers now. So, there is no controversy about that. When you move to the issue which was bringing a bit of controversy about the Secretary of the EACC, this Commission is the one that hires. Obviously, it should also have powers to fire.
