  • 10 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. Hon. (Capt.) Ruweida has been picking up very well as a first time Member of Parliament. One of the Standing Orders in place requires that when you speak in Kiswahili, you maintain it and when you speak in English, you retain English. She has been speaking in Kiswahili and mixing it with English. That is not acceptable. Secondly, this is a House of records and decorum. When the Speaker makes a pronouncement, it has to be followed to the letter. Maybe, she is not aware about the repercussions. We are not here to do populist ... view
  • 10 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. On the same matter, there is a school that was burned and tabulation of costs done. When you tabulate, the total amount of money parents are supposed to pay comes to almost Ksh70 million. When you look at the destruction, its value is not even a quarter of that amount. So, the question is, as we look into it, is it by design or the management is involved for purposes of monetary gain? • 10 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: look at this matter holistically. The rate at which this matter is spreading is as if it is an inside job. You cannot rule that out. I humbly request the Committee to summon the management of those respective schools to establish whether it was, by any chance, an inside job. It cannot just happen simultaneously then they are quick to ask parents to pay that amount of money. When you do the tabulation, that amount is exorbitant. That is my humble request. view
  • 9 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Currently, the country has been opened up. In terms of vaccination, we assume that the House is 100 per cent vaccinated. Anyone unwilling to be vaccinated should not be allowed to come into the House. I flew to the United States of America about two weeks ago, where I was invited to the Senate, and things are totally different. They are only maintaining the wearing of masks and sanitisation. My humble request is that we allow everything to go on, but we maintain putting on of masks and sanitisation, which the House has done very well. ... view

  • 21 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. This is a serious Petition. It is not the first time we are getting it on the Floor of this House. The Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare and our ambassadors in the Gulf Region have been sleeping on their jobs. We have lost many Kenyans. I have buried many Kenyans from my constituency and the entire Trans Nzoia County. We call upon the Chairperson to take this matter seriously and, if possible, involve the agencies that have been recruiting domestic workers to go and work in Saudi Arabia. They need to have a ... view

I have buried many Kenyans from my constituency and the entire Trans Nzoia County. We call upon the Chairperson to take this matter seriously and, if possible, involve the agencies that have been recruiting domestic workers to go and work in Saudi Arabia. They need to have a proper contract such that in case of any eventuality, there must be an aspect of compensation. Many Kenyans who have gone there do not wish to ... view
  • 19 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. First and foremost, I will comment on the Petition about animal feeds. It is true as we speak right now; the prices of animal feeds have skyrocketed. Even the farmers cannot break even. In my own village, we had a very successful farmer called Njoroge who was doing very well in dairy farming. He even sold His Excellency the President a bull at a cost of Kshs2 million. He has closed down and the reason he will tell you is the animal feeds are very expensive and one of the critical ... view
  • 14 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for this opportunity. Petroleum cuts across the economy. Hon. Wanga has tried. Unfortunately, when you reduce it to Ksh12, it is insignificant. We know that in our budgets – and this has been proven by the Auditor-General – almost 30 per cent goes to waste. The Petroleum Development Levy was 40 cents and was increased to 550 cents. I do not see why the Committee decided to reduce it to 250 cents. They should have reduced it to where it previously was, namely, 40 cents. Those are the opportunities we are looking at. If you reduce ... view
