  • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Finally, it has been highlighted a lot about the role of IPOA and the fact that many policemen have suffered in terms of having no houses and poor salaries. This is the role that they should play as a commission to ensure that they also work together with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC). They should send those messages to that commission and ensure that the salaries of policemen are reviewed and improved. Police reforms are necessary. We have seen the tragedies that go on. Families are being killed, but policemen cannot reach at the site because they have no ... view
  • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Sometimes they want you, as an individual, to give them a lift. I do not know if it is fine to give a policeman a lift to go and arrest somebody. I do not know if that is allowed. They are going through hard times. We see a lot of policemen killing themselves and families. There is a lot of crime that is committed by policemen. These are part and parcel of the frustrations that they go through and they can be minimised if we took care of them. I believe the newly appointed members to IPOA will live to ... view

  • 15 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. This country believes in free and compulsory education for every child because education is a right for everybody. We also believe in integrating all communities. If we are to integrate all communities and tribes, it also means that we need to integrate children with disabilities in schools where we consider children to have no disabilities. This is a very good Motion. I support it because it shows we are interested in integrating children with disabilities in schools where normal children are. Secondly, I would not really emphasise the need ... view
  • 15 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I would like to contribute to the problem of fistula that affects women. As you know, women have a lot of health problems that are quite distinct and very expensive. We are told that fistula is caused by obstructed labour and early pregnancy. When a girl is very young and she gets pregnant chances are very high that she is going to experience obstructed labour and may end up with fistula. I believe that there is lack of information on health education for the girl-child. Many of them get ... view
  • 15 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: I appreciate the effort that they are trying to give. I know it is an expensive exercise but, when you are dealing with little girls who get pregnant, then you can also begin to imagine that those little girls cannot access the treatment because they cannot afford to have even the medical insurance card. One has to pay Kshs500 for the NHIF card per month. Those girls cannot afford that kind of money and so, they cannot have the card. So the treatment becomes very difficult to access. I think there is need for us to give free treatment in ... view
  • 15 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: attention. Fistula requires special treatment and a lot of money and, therefore, there is need to have or make it free for more women to be able to access it. Finally, health education is critical. Every girl, boy and teenager should be given education about their bodies so that they know how to avoid early pregnancies. They can avoid many other diseases that come through sex such as HIV and AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). Those are problems that are facing young people and many of them do not access health services. If you are going to improve on ... view
  • 15 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much. I support this Motion. view
  • 15 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for this opportunity. I would like to support this Motion because coconut, as we are all aware, has many by-products which we use at home. Some of the products are used for construction and roofing. Coastal hotels that are roofed by makuti are normally very attractive, cool and environmentally friendly. Food made out of coconut oil and milk is always highly appreciated and we love it. There is so much that coconut does to us in terms of food and medicine. We need to promote the plant. It is unfortunate that over the years ... view
  • 15 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: At the Coast not much has been heard particularly about the coconut. We just see and use it but do not think of how to develop or expand that industry. That is why I support this because the use of coconut cannot be over-emphasised. It is really important and the Ministry of Agriculture should begin to invest in that industry. As it has already been illustrated, there is a lot of disaster and poverty around the Coast. However, if this is developed, we can eradicate the poverty and many families will see the benefits of it and ensure that each ... view
