  • 11 Nov 2020 in Senate: I congratulate this Committee for their effort. Let us put our political principles aside. We did put aside our political principles when we had issues with division of revenue and wananchi were on our necks because they wanted money to get to them. We shall achieve great milestones when we leave our political godfathers and principles and discuss this matter in a sober manner. view
  • 10 Nov 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for also giving me a chance to add my voice to this very important Statement from Sen. Khaniri. view
  • 10 Nov 2020 in Senate: When we were young, the tea sector was one of the greatest employer in this county, especially for the youth. When we see farming in this country declining, it is an obvious reason that unemployment will also automatically follow. Yesterday, I was coming from Bomet and what I witnessed in Maai Mahiu is a looming danger to this country. I wish Sen. Olekina could listen to this because he is a neighbor to that place. The youth came out to block the highway to Nairobi simply because the Government has gone to harvest sand, which has been a source of ... view

This is because they used to get a lot of money that they could use to buy food. Today, malnutrition and starvation is very high in tea ... view
  • 10 Nov 2020 in Senate: We must take this Statement seriously. I hope the Bill, which was being championed by Sen. Cheruiyot and some of us should be brought to save this situation. view
  • 10 Nov 2020 in Senate: Even though we are also saying that it is not an issue to argue about when it comes to matters BBI, it is very important. I noted Sen. Halake supporting Sen. (Prof.) Ongeri when he said that it was not a matter to do with BBI. In as much it was a very important concern to all of us, the issues of pastoralists and crop farming must be listened to in the BBI. Crop farming, which is one of the most important sector in this country, must be seriously debated. Where I come from - as Sen. Omogeni said - ... view
  • 10 Nov 2020 in Senate: I support that we must introduce guaranteed minimum returns (GMR) to give hope, security and assurance to these farmers so that they may continue flourishing and give employment to the youth and as a foreign exchange earner. view
  • 5 Nov 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to make a contribution on this important Statement from the Senator of Lamu. Currently, there are many issues coming from the Coastal region concerning unemployment and discrimination on matters of employment. We went to Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) on a different mission, but the issues that were raised by the people of the Coast concerning discrimination in employment are getting high. view
  • 5 Nov 2020 in Senate: Discrimination of the youths based on various things--- We had discussed here one time, to the point of raising a concern--- view
