  • 20 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: On Sunday, a similar incident occurred, leading to two people losing their lives. Their bodies are yet to be buried. When I call Igembe South, they tell me that they do not have a vehicle. When they have a vehicle, they do not have fuel. When I ask the District Commissioner (DC), Igembe North, to come for a security meeting, they say that they are not available because they are serving their constituencies. view
  • 20 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, let the Chairperson go back and seek clarification as to when this will be implemented. He should not say that they will do it as soon as the constituency is gazetted as a sub-county. When will it be gazetted? How many years will it take? view
  • 20 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I appreciate the concern of my colleague and the efforts the Chair is trying to make. However, he is promising to bring the answer after two weeks, yet this is just a follow up. He has just said that signatures are being awaited. I do not know who is going to sign. He said that within a week he will bring a gazettement. Why does he push it again to two weeks? view

Hon. Deputy Speaker, I was in the co-operative movement for 15 years and I know what has been happening. Most of the societies which go under do so because of mismanagement. Therefore it is important that we remove this liquidator; most liquidators sell assets of co-operatives at very low, or ... view
  • 12 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I seek your guidance, especially on asking of these Statements. Hon. Members are asking for Statements here and the Chairs of different Committees are giving promises on the dates they are going to bring the Statements. I would request that even if the answer is not ready when the promised date comes, they bring an interim answer and say when they will bring the main answer. Why am I saying so? I asked for a Statement sometime in June and I was given two weeks. To date, I have not seen it. ... view

  • 31 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: when overloaded, move at very low speeds and they ride in the middle of the road. That is why they cause accidents. Do we really have plans to construct lanes for them? Initially, there were no boda bodas in our roads. But now, they have come onto our roads like a storm. They over-crowd the roads and that is why we get accidents and the “ Boda Boda wards.” Let us mitigate and curb those accidents so that we do not invest in wards, but in saving those boys from accidents. view
