  • 25 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I also want to thank the Committee because the Bill indicates precautions and safe waste disposal ways. At the same time, this will help to keep the environment clean, meaning that even air pollution will be minimal. It will help the country to have sufficient power that will help to fuel the economy. Most of the places which are not connected to electricity will be in a position to get power. As we project for Vision 2030, many people will have already benefited from energy if it will be done early enough. With that, ... view
  • 19 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to support the Motion. I thank Hon. Sylvanus for bringing this important Motion to the House. It is the right time for the Motion. The current NTSA report indicates that 2,000 to 3,000 people die in road accidents each year. If the curriculum is introduced in primary and secondary school levels, we can tame the accidents. The accidents are caused by lack of knowledge on how to use road signs and how to obey traffic laws. If road safety education is introduced in primary and secondary levels, our pupils ... view
  • 19 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Most of the accidents in Kenya are caused by carelessness and lack of knowledge. You will notice a pedestrian who lacks knowledge on the correct way of using a road as well as a driver who does not have correct information on road safety as issued by the traffic department. This will help boda boda riders since this is an upcoming industry where we have many young people. Many boda boda riders get into the business straight from high school and others from university. It means that when this knowledge will be impacted on them, they will have prior knowledge ... view
  • 19 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: I would like to urge my fellow Members to support this Motion. Let us not only support the Motion, but ensure that it is implemented, so that students and pupils can have this knowledge. This will help us curb road carnage. view
  • 19 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: With those few remarks, I support. view
  • 19 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Please I have the Floor. Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, BAC is putting us at crossroads in that they are bringing in amendments which are making us behave as if we are men and women fighting in this Parliament. That is wrong. We should be working as a team and as a Committee. If we have to sit and negotiate so that NGEC can be getting its own money as either men or women, I will oppose that one. This money should remain in the Commission and I oppose the amendment. view
  • 18 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity to comment on that Petition. I support the Petition because there are very many areas in this country that were forgotten during the original demarcation. There are areas which should be considered arid and others which should not be considered because of the parameters which were being used then. Maybe, they were looking at the counties or provinces. There are constituencies which have areas that are marginal while others do not. For that reason, civil servants working in those areas get a lot of hardships. It is important that a review ... view
  • 18 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: hardship areas and classify them as such. That will benefit the people who work for the Government, especially teachers and other civil servants whose lives are normally endangered in those circumstances. They even stay without water and their travelling is a problem. I support the Petition. view
  • 18 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I beg to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Energy: (i) whether he is aware that Kenya Power obtained wayleave from the Kenya Forest Service in 2012 to construct a power line in Nyambene Forest stretching a distance of 4.2 kilometres, following which trees and vegetation were cleared. (ii) whether he could provide reasons behind the delays in construction of the power line and further state the amount that had been earmarked for the project, and (iii) whether he could provide a clear timeline on when the project will commence and its expected date of completion? Thank you. view
  • 18 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you Hon. Chairman for giving me this opportunity to add my voice to this. With a lot of respect to my good friend Chairman Melly, I oppose the amendment. We are in need of TVETs. We are yet to achieve the 290 in number as per the constituencies, and yet we have many young people who never qualified to go to universities and we have nowhere to take them. So, the Chair should look for funds from elsewhere and not from TVETs. view
