  • 31 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I support Hon. Korere’s Petition especially because it touches on infrastructure. This country loses a lot of money in repairing roads which have been neglected after taxpayers’ money has been spent in tarmacking them. view
  • 31 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: There are many roads in this country, but the specific one she has talked about also serves Meru County. Roads are tarmacked and no money is allocated for annual repairs. In fact, the roads get dilapidated to the extent that they have to be tarmacked again. I have a road in my constituency which has been neglected after being tarmacked 15 years ago. That road is no longer there and we are budgeting money to tarmack it again, instead of doing repairs. view
  • 31 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: It is important for the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development to take action and make sure that once roads are built, there are finances every year for maintenance. That way, we will not spend taxpayers’ money in tarmacking them. Instead, we will be maintaining them. view

  • 31 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to support this Bill. The introduction of this Bill is long overdue. It should have come to this House as early as yesterday. Issues of water have been pertinent in this country. Since water is becoming scarce as days go by, some people masquerading as hydrologists have been taking advantage of the ignorance and plight of our people. In this country, we have quacks who have qualified themselves as experts in all professions so that they can eke out a living as they exploit ignorant and suffering Kenyans. As one ... view
  • 31 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: can harvest this water instead of it going into the Indian Ocean through rivers and surface run- off. It should be collected in a place so that it can be used later during drought. Such water could be supplied to animals, human beings and crops. view
  • 31 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Therefore, I support this Bill and empahsise that this Board should comprise of people who are beyond reproach. They should be ready to vet and give licences to people who are capable of producing results. When we decide to plan for a water system, we must ensure that it is successful. It should not be a white elephant project. We do not want to construct dams in a way that we have dry river beds which will never collect any water. This is because we will be wasting resources. We should engage qualified people, use proper equipment and direct the ... view
  • 24 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to support this Motion on the approval of the HBC. First and foremost, let me thank the Almighty God for having brought us this far. All of us are here safely. I thank all the members who have come back to start this final lap. I believe it will be a lap of honour, whereby we are going to do our best to finalise what really is supposed to have been done by us despite the fact that we are not going to live to the five years. The period has ... view
  • 24 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Therefore, I would like to urge my colleagues that despite the tight schedule outside there, let us also endeavour to be here in the House to give quorum, so that at least the business of the House does not stall but we make progress. I know it will be tedious and tricky, but I know we shall make it. view
  • 24 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Finally, let me add my voice on the Supplementary Budget, especially on the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF). We remember that there was an amount which was slashed by the courts, but something was done about it. Some schools which were supposed to benefit from this kitty, particularly secondary schools are suffering because we are yet to put up classrooms there and yet they have already admitted Form One class. I have evidence; some of the principals in my constituency have called to tell me that they have no classrooms for the new students. Therefore, let us expedite this ... view
