Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to support this Motion on the approval of the HBC. First and foremost, let me thank the Almighty God for having brought us this far. All of us are here safely. I thank all the members who have come back to start this final lap. I believe it will be a lap of honour, whereby we are going to do our best to finalise what really is supposed to have been done by us despite the fact that we are not going to live to the five years. The period has ...

Therefore, I would like to urge my colleagues that despite the tight schedule outside there, let us also endeavour to be here in the House to give quorum, so that at least the business of the House does not stall but we make progress. I know it will be tedious and tricky, but I know we shall make it.

Finally, let me add my voice on the Supplementary Budget, especially on the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF). We remember that there was an amount which was slashed by the courts, but something was done about it. Some schools which were supposed to benefit from this kitty, particularly secondary schools are suffering because we are yet to put up classrooms there and yet they have already admitted Form One class. They should be careful because they cannot live in isolation with the community. It is the community that gives up this land and so they should also benefit from the activities which go on ...

Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I stand to support the Petition. Land issues are very emotive. There are a lot of problems with land issues. There are people who are bent on taking land from communities.

The Departmental Committee on Lands should look into this matter critically because that is what brings chaos and even clashes among our people. Even in my constituency, we have huge chunks of land whose title deeds have not been issued because some people claim that the land is theirs. But the original people have lived there for 30 to 40 years. Other people come and use officers in the Land’s Office to interfere with its demarcation and, at the end of the day; they claim that land belongs to somebody because they have an intention of selling the land to ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this Bill. First and foremost, I want to thank the initiator of this Bill, Hon. Neto for coming up with it. I also thank the Committee, which went through this Bill and came up with some very pertinent and fundamental issues that need to be looked into. I support the Bill because it gives a framework and gives the commission which will be formed the powers and the strength to contain the refugee menace or issues in this country. Naturally, people run away from their countries ...
