  • 30 Nov 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity to comment on this Petition. In as much as we would like to get grounds for our forces to train so that they can be effective in their work, they should also be careful when they are handling weapons like grenades and military machinery, which are a danger to the communities in the areas where they train. They should be careful because they cannot live in isolation with the community. It is the community that gives up this land and so they should also benefit from the activities which go on ... view

  • 29 Nov 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I stand to support the Petition. Land issues are very emotive. There are a lot of problems with land issues. There are people who are bent on taking land from communities. view
  • 29 Nov 2016 in National Assembly: The Departmental Committee on Lands should look into this matter critically because that is what brings chaos and even clashes among our people. Even in my constituency, we have huge chunks of land whose title deeds have not been issued because some people claim that the land is theirs. But the original people have lived there for 30 to 40 years. Other people come and use officers in the Land’s Office to interfere with its demarcation and, at the end of the day; they claim that land belongs to somebody because they have an intention of selling the land to ... view

  • 23 Nov 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this Bill. First and foremost, I want to thank the initiator of this Bill, Hon. Neto for coming up with it. I also thank the Committee, which went through this Bill and came up with some very pertinent and fundamental issues that need to be looked into. I support the Bill because it gives a framework and gives the commission which will be formed the powers and the strength to contain the refugee menace or issues in this country. Naturally, people run away from their countries ... view
  • 23 Nov 2016 in National Assembly: come from different countries. We get the biggest influx of refugees from the countries which surround us. There are others who come from afar, even abroad, and try to hide here. We need to engage the international community, the African Union (AU) and the United Nations (UN) so that the country should not carry the burden of maintaining and taking care of these refugees. We need to have a framework whereby the international community chips in for the temporary stay of these people who have come from their motherland because of one reason or the other. As the Bill states, ... view
  • 16 Nov 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Let me take this opportunity on my own behalf and on behalf of my family and the people of Igembe Central to send my heartfelt condolences to the Otuomas. I knew Hon. Otuoma even before I came to this Parliament because he is married from my place. The mother to the deceased is a daughter to the late Erastus Mbaabu who was a former Provincial Commissioner and they neighbour my constituency. I have also known Hon. Otuoma for a while because my own daughter is married in Funyula. When I went to pay dowry for my ... view
  • 16 Nov 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to support this Motion by Hon. Mwaura. Let me take this opportunity to thank my colleague Hon. Mwaura for bringing this Motion, especially the fact that it touches our youth. The youth, as we know, are the backbone of any nation or family or any other organisation. If we do not nurture our youth the right way, we might produce half-baked people who would not carry the country to the Kenya Vision 2030 as we envisage, or more so to see the growth of the nation. Our youth have ... view
