  • 12 Jun 2014 in Senate: On a point of information, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I would like to inform my very good friend that starting this night, the Committee on Education will proceed to Mombasa to draft a Bill aimed at regularizing ECDE teachers, pupils and schools in the Republic. This one is likely to be tabled here next week. view
  • 11 Jun 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for recognizing me to say something in support of this Motion. We are debating a Motion that is belated, a Motion which should have come in 1950s or “1060s”. This is in the sense that as a country, we need to have our people exposed like many other soldiers who have been exposed elsewhere. I remember when we had World War I and World War II, our forefathers--- view
  • 11 Jun 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, there is a problem here with the English Language. What I have used is referred to as a metaphor. When you talk in that kind of language, you are being metaphoric. We can use 1950s parallel to the year 2014. • 11 Jun 2014 in Senate: Thank you very much, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. What Sen. Boy Juma Boy was trying to articulate is that it is very unfortunate when there is no background education and that is ECD. • 11 Jun 2014 in Senate: Thank you very much, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I support this Report which is moving in the sense that it is one of the few reports that have been tabled here. I congratulate the team, headed by the Chairman, Sen. Mutahi Kagwe. I was also a Member of the Committee. It important to point out that Sen. Kagwe now is the Chairman of the Committee on Information and Communication Technology (ICT). We have since split and I am now the Chairman of the Committee on Education. So, take note, as you contribute, that he is no longer the Chairman of ... view

  • 10 Jun 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I have this portable one here. We need to know what is happening to this august House; all machines are breaking down. I do not know what system we are supposed to adopt. This mobile microphone is also cumbersome. All the same, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I stand to support the amendments as moved in the documents that we have here more so because I support the idea that people who are below 18 years should not take beer. This is something which, if not checked, will affect the educational standards in the country; it will ... view
  • 10 Jun 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, that is what it means. We must be selective. If those molasses are part of things which are used in producing these drinks, then we should curb what is not good for drinking. Most of the molasses is meant for livestock. That is what should selectively be done; but not the same product now producing alcohol. So, what is supposed to be alcohol is what I am saying should be prohibited. It should not be manufactured because it could be a killer brew. That is what is happening. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report ... view
