  • 26 May 2016 in National Assembly: just informs so that we do not leave anything that is not taken care of considering that there are information systems and that information can be stored in that particular system in form of a program. It is just simply English. view

  • 26 May 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I would like to make brief comments on the amendments. I want to say that for international conventions, it is only good and fair that Kenya’s local legislation matches them to serve the interest of participants and, in this case, the sportsmen. In 2008, I was part of the team that went to the Olympics in Beijing where Kenya performed well. Meeting anti-doping requirements is necessary for every event that our athletes participate in. For the rest of the world, when the results turn out positive, there are certain consequences the athletes face. For a long ... view
  • 26 May 2016 in National Assembly: of. But the main goal is to make sure that our athletes comply and are free from any substances which can enhance their energy so that they can compete fairly with the rest of the world. Kenyan athletes can also suffer in the event that another country does not comply. They complete mostly with Ethiopians and Russians. I am happy to support a situation where we all comply and follow the law internationally and locally. Our athletes should continue to make Kenya famous and market it to the rest of the world with our talent of athletics. I support all ... view
  • 26 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I also condole with the family of His Excellency Mwai Kibaki. In your Communication, you mentioned that she was helping the Girl Guides Association in the country. She also played a very critical role in the establishment of Starehe Girls Centre in Nairobi, which is near Kiambu. His Excellency Mwai Kibaki has been the Chairman of Starehe Boys Centre since 1969. I believe she picked from him. She was very instrumental in starting Starehe Girls Centre, which is now going to be there for a long time and help many poor and needy girls in the ... view
  • 21 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I support this Petition. We have many young university students who are idling in our constituencies and it is not clear when they will go back to the universities. The instances of violence have been worrying. In fact, recently, the Co-operative University College lost three students. They died in an accident while campaigning. We saw the loss of property at the University of Nairobi (UoN) recently when the Students’ Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU) office was burnt down by students just before the closure of the university. The elections in this ... view
  • 30 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I would like to support Hon. Waititu’s Petition. Some of us here have their people along that highway especially the ones in universities. In fact, in Makueni Constituency, we had a case of a university student who died on the same road. One of the prayers in that Petition is that orders be made pertaining to other matters related to the same whereby security is guaranteed. There is a practice by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) and KeRRA to build roads without bumps all over the country. Wananchi are forced to erect soil-based bumps by ... view
  • 23 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to support the Petition by Hon. Bady. Similar situations have happened in other areas. Recently, the Departmental Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives visited the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) and found a similar crisis. It seems companies have become immune to the law. Therefore, I would urge the Committee to be keen on it. We need a methodology or some teeth to bite so that when resolutions are passed here, those companies can follow. I support the Petition. Thank you. view
  • 23 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I support Hon. Iringo’s Petition. I also want to point out that while the Committee looks at it, right now, KeRRA is involved in a court case. Governors went to court to stop KeRRA from constructing roads. In fact, construction of roads has stopped in most parts of the country including my constituency. We have reinterpreted the court order and realised that KeRRA can participate in some roads and leave others. While we are making roads, the issue of bumps has been brought to this Parliament before and it has not been addressed sufficiently. It ... view
  • 23 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: erected. Recently, in my constituency, wananchi erected a bump after somebody was crashed by a vehicle. There was even a more terrible accident caused by a truck because of lack of professionalism. view
