  • 12 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The issues that hon. Members are raising are not new to the Cabinet Secretary of Education. What pains me most is that we have policies and guidelines about how much is supposed to be paid in terms of fees. However, the Cabinet Secretary has failed to crack the whip. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 12 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: It is important that the House takes responsibility, particularly our Committee on Education, Research and Technology, to even summon the Cabinet Secretary to give us reasons why he has failed to organise his principals to bring the school fees down and affordable. The taxpayers’ money has been used through the Mwiria Commission to give us a report and see how best this can be implemented. The same has been taken to the shelves and nothing is happening and yet, we have somebody to take care of that report. So, it is important that the Cabinet Secretary takes responsibility. • 28 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Chairlady, I want to support the amendment from the word go because on many occasions when minerals are found in certain areas, you get people masquerading as having bought that land in advance. Therefore, that denies the community any opportunity to gain from that position. Therefore, I want to support hon. Mwaita for bringing that amendment and I want that amendment to go through so that we take care of the interests of the community where minerals are found. view
  • 6 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker, Sir. I want to agree with the hon. Member that the statement has delayed. But yesterday, we were with the Cabinet Secretary for Labour, Social Security and Services. We told him that those statements are urgently required and we agreed that by next week we will get all the statements and then we will be able to give advice. view
  • 6 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. Just as I mentioned earlier, we had a meeting with the Cabinet Secretary yesterday and we also raised the concern of statements not getting to us in good time. We agreed with the Cabinet Secretary that we will get the replies to statements sought very soon. Therefore, this will be next week. I think that we will address all the statements that have delayed by next week. That was the commitment from the Cabinet Secretary as well. view
  • 17 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. Given that the Statement raised touches on some budgetary issues, the Committee will give an answer in three weeks’ time, because we have to consult various departments. view
  • 17 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I rise to support the amendment Bill. It is actually prudent that we take services closer to our people. Microfinance institutions are the only option that will give an opportunity to people in the rural areas to access banking facilities. When we had a monopoly of Standard Chartered Bank and Barclays Bank, those institutions would even go out of their way to raise the minimum account balances to unacceptable levels. With the inclusion of microfinance institutions and putting in place proper mitigation factors to ensure that they observe professionalism and ethical ways of doing banking, I ... view
  • 16 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, I rise to oppose the reduction from 14 days to 12 days as proposed in this Procedural Motion because there is no urgency. People are married and even the campaigns are far away from now. So, let us just have the normal period. I, therefore, oppose the reduction of the days. view
  • 10 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I rise to support this Motion with a lot of passion. Liberalization of production and distribution of electricity in this country is long overdue. This is because Kenya Power has totally taken its customers for granted. Its service to customers is very unsatisfactory. I want to believe that the attitude of the staff at Kenya Power is totally wrong. particularly in this era. I think that Kenya Power has not learnt from what happened to Telkom Kenya. In the days when Telkom Kenya was a monopoly in this country its services were very poor, and you ... view
