  • 17 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. Given that the Statement raised touches on some budgetary issues, the Committee will give an answer in three weeks’ time, because we have to consult various departments. view
  • 17 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I rise to support the amendment Bill. It is actually prudent that we take services closer to our people. Microfinance institutions are the only option that will give an opportunity to people in the rural areas to access banking facilities. When we had a monopoly of Standard Chartered Bank and Barclays Bank, those institutions would even go out of their way to raise the minimum account balances to unacceptable levels. With the inclusion of microfinance institutions and putting in place proper mitigation factors to ensure that they observe professionalism and ethical ways of doing banking, I ... view
  • 16 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, I rise to oppose the reduction from 14 days to 12 days as proposed in this Procedural Motion because there is no urgency. People are married and even the campaigns are far away from now. So, let us just have the normal period. I, therefore, oppose the reduction of the days. view
  • 10 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I rise to support this Motion with a lot of passion. Liberalization of production and distribution of electricity in this country is long overdue. This is because Kenya Power has totally taken its customers for granted. Its service to customers is very unsatisfactory. I want to believe that the attitude of the staff at Kenya Power is totally wrong. particularly in this era. I think that Kenya Power has not learnt from what happened to Telkom Kenya. In the days when Telkom Kenya was a monopoly in this country its services were very poor, and you ... view

  • 9 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I rise to support this Motion based on the fact that this country has suffered quite a lot of setbacks in terms of growing our economy and part of these scams – Goldenberg and others – have actually deterred the improvement of the economy of this country. This is what has created a lot of issues in terms of unemployment as well to our youth. So, it is quite important and vital for the Government and even for this House to come up with view
  • 5 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Motion with a lot of passion. One of the fundamental issues that our forefathers, who struggled for Independence wanted to tackle was better health for the Kenyan citizens. It is important for this Jubilee Government to take this into consideration, because there are quite a number of people, particularly in the rural areas who cannot access this facility. This is particularly so with men who suffer from prostate cancer. The facilities at the local hospitals are not available and, as the Motion says, the only place that this can be ... view

  • 28 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you hon. Deputy Speaker. I stand to support this Motion, based on chapter six of the Constitution in terms of leadership and integrity. The report that we have been given by this Committee actually gives us the information on how Mr. Kimemia has worked. The service he has given in all those years in as a civil servant--- Therefore, I think it is important that we have his expertise on board, given that the Cabinet that we have is relatively new in the Civil Service; so, he will give the guidance and the able leadership that we need in ... view
  • 24 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to take this opportunity to make my maiden speech. First of all I want to congratulate you and the Speaker for having been elected to lead us in this House. My name is Dan Wanyama. I am the hon. Member for the new constituency called Webuye West. I also take this opportunity to view
