  • 28 Jul 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister of State for Special Programmes the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Why has the entire Taita-Taveta County been excluded from the current Government mitigation programme on the drought and famine and yet, the county is in the ASAL region? (b) What measures will the Government take to ensure that the school feeding and school fee waiver programmes are rolled out to all schools in the county and water is delivered to the residents of the various areas affected by drought? view
  • 28 Jul 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Assistant Minister for that answer. There was a special mitigation Fund which was started in February and March this year and this is the Fund that I am referring to. This is the Drought Mitigation Fund which was a package to feed school children, waive fees and supply water to the affected areas. Taita Taveta was not included in that and that is why I asked why it was excluded. What was the criterion for admitting a county to the Drought Mitigation Programme? view
  • 28 Jul 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, when is the Assistant Minister going to increase the funding? As he has been told, the Taita Taveta County is affected by severe drought. In terms of the distribution of water, could he give a bowser to every district? Could he also double the allocation of maize and implement the School Fees Waiver Programme as a matter of urgency? view
  • 18 May 2011 in National Assembly: Ahsante Bw.
  • 27 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Lands:- (a) whether he could provide a status report on the Maungu-Buguta Settlement Scheme; and, (b) what the cause of the delay is and when the Ministry will issue letters/title deeds for the land. view
  • 27 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Assistant Minister for this answer. However, the verification of maps was completed in August last year. The real reason why there has been a delay is that the settlement manager or officer has been absent for the last four months and is not visible in the settlement office. Could he now confirm that the letters will be issued in the next three days because the end of month is only three days to come? view
  • 27 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am satisfied as long as I get the letters in three days’ time. view
  • 6 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Environment and Mineral Resources:- (a) whether he could provide a progress report on the rehabilitation of Voi River; and, view
  • 6 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am surprised. This same Assistant Minister visited Voi in June, 2008, during the celebrations of the Environment Conservation Day, when we visited the river and addressed a big baraza . He pleaded that his Ministry was going to allocate funds, so that Voi River could be rehabilitated, so that the overflowing that happens during the rainy season would stop and thereby stopping the resultant destruction and loss of lives. I am surprised that he is now reporting that nothing is being done. What do I go and tell the people of Voi in terms of ... view
  • 6 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I have no problem, only that I want to give information to the House. I have actually sat in the District Environment Committee four times, chaired by the DC, Voi--- view
