  • 24 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I rise to support this Motion on waste disposal. The City of Nairobi is choking with waste and garbage, not because this is a natural problem, but because it is a man-made problem. We have seen many companies and individuals in town disposing of waste in the streets of Nairobi and in areas not designated as dumpsites. Garbage has become a big menace in most towns; it is not Nairobi alone that is affected. This is rampant in areas that have no designated dumpsites. This problem will continue if we only speak and do not put measures ... view
  • 17 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Thank you hon. Wario for donating two minutes to me, at least, to support that Motion as amended. The suffering that the people of Tana River experience is man-made and it is caused by KenGen and TARDA. Those are the two big corporate companies that do not have regard for human dignity. • 10 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to thank all the Members who have supported the Motion. I just want to take two minutes to make a few highlights. I will donate two minutes each to hon. Nyamweya, hon. Mwashetani, hon. Sang and hon. Lady. view
  • 10 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: I would like to point one or two issues. First, this is the Jubilee Government which says that it is a digital Government. I am one of the members of the Jubilee Government. The Government will remain analogue until there is power all over the country to make it digital. Most of the aspects in the Jubilee Manifesto are power oriented. view
  • 10 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Laptops cannot be used without power. The Government has talked about introducing a railway levy to construct an electric railway line and that cannot happen without power. Even the one million acres to be put under irrigation cannot be realized without power. view
  • 10 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. (Eng.) Rege has said that we should not get rid of Kenya Power. That is not my intention. My Motion is about bringing competition. We want Kenya Power to compete with other stakeholders in power distribution. Competition brings about efficiency in power distribution and good customer relationship. Sometimes when you call the customer care desk, you are told that the number is not in service. This is the case and yet this is the number Kenya Power has given out for customer service. view
  • 10 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Industrialization cannot be achieved in 2030 if Kenya Power still enjoys the monopoly with only 15 per cent connection penetration in this country. view
