Speaker, macadamia is one of the main cash crops in Meru County, contributing to about 40 per cent of the people’s income, particularly in Tigania West Constituency. It is my considered view that since agriculture is a devolved function, it should be fully embraced by county governments with specific regard to crop control and licensing. Currently, some Chinese investors are buying macadamia nuts directly from farmers at a fair price of Kshs120 per kilogramme compared to local buyers, who purchase the same nuts at Kshs60 per kilogramme. It will go a long way in providing and establishing the Clinical Officers Council which will be in charge of supervision, control, training and professional practice. It will also approve training institutions. view
  • 22 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Clinical officers are the backbone of the health sector in our country. I urge county governments to support clinical officers, especially those who are trained and yet, they have no jobs. This Bill will create space for trained clinical officers to open their clinics and create jobs. view
